Lee Seung-chul to Announce Digital Single

2006, June 27

Singer Lee Seung-chul has embarked on a new project that will likely change the whole paradigm of the pop market. Lee will soon announce his new song entitled “Don’t Leave” via the project named “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.”

As the nation’s first, the project will include the new songs of several artists as digital singles that will later be released as a standard album.

While resembling existing compilation records at first glance, the project will only feature brand-new songs and top-quality music.

The advantage of the project is that it is expected to boost the stagnated record market in the country. It costs tens of millions of won to release a single in the online market, but the new project will not only ensure guaranties worth tens of millions of won but also large additional revenues through diverse marketing channels and multiple opportunities for artists to meet with their fans.

Lee, who is currently preparing his new album slated for release in September, will release his new song, “Don’t Leave,” to catch up with his fans after a seven-month hiatus.

The new song was written by Song Jae-woo, who also produced the title song “Piano” for singer Cho Sung-mo’s fifth album, and Lee Kyung-yi, who wrote the lyrics of singer Kim Jong-kook’s song “Gift.” “Don’t Leave” is about a man’s promise of a never-changing love to a woman who is about to leave him.

A person who participated in the project’s planning said the project will involve more artists in the future and that an album comprising the digital singles of domestic artists will appear in record stores at the end of this year.
