Aug 16, 2006
The five-man group TVXQ has been seeing its popularity in Malaysia increase since it held its first concert there.
The group’s agency, SM Entertainment, said Monday that TVXQ has topped the music chart on Malaysia’s radio program “988” in both the Korean pop and Japanese pop categories.
The group’s “The East’s Fighting Spirit,” a song written to cheer on the Korean National Soccer Team, has remained in the top spot for two consecutive weeks in the Korean pop category and “Begin,” its Japanese single, in the Japanese pop category. “Heart, Mind and Soul,” the title song of its first feature album released in Japan, also ranked second in the Japanese pop category.
“988” is a major Malaysian radio program with some 4.2 million listeners, which is also aired as far away as Singapore. Its music chart announced every Sunday is based on votes made by listeners through the internet and ARS and broadcasting frequencies.
