BoA’s Live Concert to Be Aired on TV

Oct 5, 2006

Japanese broadcaster will broadcast Boa’s live concert on Nov. 5, which coincides with the 20th birthday of the pan-Asian star. TBS TV said that it will be the first broadcasting company to exclusively air “BoA The Live” under the title of “BoA The Live – 20th Birthday.”

Unlike other years when she gave big tour concerts at arenas with the capacity of 12,000 people, this year Boa will hold live concerts under the theme of “Feel BoA at Your Arm’s Distance” at Zepp performance halls with only 2,000 seats in six cities across Japan. No doubt all tickets for the tour concerts have already been sold out.

”Making a sudden rise from nowhere in Japan in 2001, the then 14-year-old girl immediately captivated the Japanese with her soulful voice and outstanding dancing ability, unbelievable for her age, and her cute appearance,” the broadcaster said. “Not only did her first album ‘Listen to My Heart’ top the Oricon Chart as soon as it was released in 2002, but she has also rapidly grown to become ‘Asia’s singing princess’ since then.”

To mark the 5th anniversary of her debut, BoA kicked off her live concert tour in Nagoya on Sept. 29, which will end on Nov. 15 in Sapporo after performances in Hukuoka, Osaka, Tokyo and Sendai. TBS will air the concert to be held in Tokyo on Oct. 17 and 18.

Meanwhile, BoA will release her 21st single album “Winter Love” in Japan on Nov. 1. “’Winter Love’ is a ballad song that is more touching than ‘Merry Chri,’ which BoA released in December, 2004,” Avex said. “The single will also include the remake of ‘Last Christmas,’ known as a Christmas classic by the now-disbanded famous British group Wham.”

BoA has so far released 20 single albums, four feature albums and one best-of album, and topped the Oricon Single and Feature Album Chart eight times since making her debut in Japan in 2001.
