Weekly Music Chart 2007 - February week 1

Summary for February week 1 chart:

No. 1 song: ERU’s "흰눈" (White Snow) remains No. 1 this week. It’s the first song to score 900 or more points in our chart this year. It is going strong and should be at or around the top again next week. The top 5 songs of this week are the same as last week.

Biggest Movers of the week: Female rocker Seo Moon Tak has the biggest mover this week. Her song "가거라 사랑아" (Go Away Love) is moving up 19 spots into the top 10 at No. 9. She hasn’t scored a top 10 hit for a long long time. Seo Moon Tak appeared a lot more on music shows to promote her 6th album, and it certainly helps this rock ballad to become more popular.

Hot shot debut: Lee Soo Young’s "눈물이나요" (I’m Crying) debuts at No. 24 this week. This song is from the single album "Dong Hwa 2". Lee Soo Young is collobrating with Lee Soo, lead singer from MC The Max, on this release. Most of us should be familar with "Dong Hwa 1" which produced the top 10 hit "사랑후에" (After Love) by Shin Hye Sung and Lyn.

New songs: Same as last week, we have 6 new songs and 2 re-entries this week.

Songs to watch out:

6. KCM – 안녕 (Goodbye) – As expected, this song enters the top 10 this week. This is the type of song that the more you listen, the more you like. Looking to enter the top 5 or even top 3 next week. The only drawback is that it is a digital single, which doesn’t have the album sales scores to support.

14. Park Sang Min – 울지마요 (Don’t Cry) – The song has been in the chart for several weeks and finally makes a big move this week. Park Sang Min’s soulful voice is easy to recognize and is perfect for this sad ballad. Not many singers in k-pop have released 11 albums and are still going strong.

19. Jang Nara – 안 행복해 (I’m not happy) – Last week’s hot shot debut moves up 12 spots to No. 19 this week. Jang Nara shows a more mature vocal in this song which is already in the top 10 on several internet charts.

27. Typhoon – 기다릴게… (I’ll Wait) – First time we hear Typhoon singing a ballad. They did have some nice ballads on their 1st album but none were released as a single. To fit the winter season, this dance group has released a digital single love song. A nice duet between Solbi and Woojae.

Arirang TV: Featured on Sung Si-kyung’s fifth album titled "The Ballads," this song displays a new vocalism by uniquely using the falsetto. Its lyrics, written by Yoon Jong-shin, are about a man walking the street who holds precious memories of his lover from whom he has just separated. It is a Sung Si-kyung style ballad song displaying his gentle tone and vocals. Sung Si-kyung’s kissing scene with a Japanese actress was the highlight of the music video.

A dynamic and hardcore hip hop track with powerful guitar and drum accompaniment which harmonizes with the members strong rap and vocals. The 6 members wear camouflage, leather and black in their music video, creating a tough image.

Lee Seung-chul wrote the lyrics to the song based on an illusion of a woman depicted as a white bird flying up to the sky.
