Summary for February week 2 chart:

No. 1 song: Big Bang got their first No. 1 song with “Dirty Cash”, edging out ERU’s "흰눈" (White Snow). This is Big Bang’s 4th hit song already. They produced one hit each on their first three single albums. “Dirty Cash” comes from their first full album. With stronger album sales and more TV appearances, Big Bang finally hit No. 1.

Co-biggest Movers of the week: Two songs moving up 15 spots this week but they are older songs: Kim Hyun Chul’s “결혼도못하고” (Not Being Able To Marry) and CSJH The Grace’s “열정” (My Everything). Due to a lot of new debuts and weak scores in the lower half of the chart this week, these 2 songs were able to rebound nicely. Don’t expect them to move further up a lot next week, though.

Hot shot debut: Brian remains at No. 4, but the song is not “가지마” anymore. Instead, he has switched to another song “일년을겨울에살아” (One Year Living In Winter) and made a very impressive debut at No. 4. With this chart expanding to 50 songs, we won’t see too many songs debuting this high. Let’s see if this song can challenge the top next week.

New songs: A lot of new songs this week, most are from the “heavy weight” late January and early February albums. In total, we have 10 new songs and 4 re-entries.

 

Songs to watch out:

21. Epik High – Fan – Title song from the trio’s top selling 4th album. This song continues Epik High’s style of unique pop-oriented hip hop songs. When the album scores come into effect next week, expect this song to make a big jump.

31. See Ya – 미워요 (Hateful) – Featured on composer Cho Young Soo’s project album, the top new artiste of 2006 comes back with a mid-tempo R&B song. The arrangement of this song makes it sound like an oldie. Kim Yeon Ji’s vocal is very impressive in this song.

37. Seo Ji Young – Hey Boy – Both former female S#arp members are in the chart this week. Lee Ji Hye is just one spot lower. This is the title song of her 2nd album. She is showing more mature vocals and better choreography in this song.

39. Baby Vox Re.V. – Shee – They are known as the new Baby Vox and already had a lot of hype before their debut. Like their predecessor, they will focus on dance music. Let’s see if they are as successful as Baby Vox.

40. Lee Ki Chan – 미인 (A Beauty) – Lee Ki Chan is back after an extended hiatus. After an unsuccessful 8th album in which he chose an upbeat song as his title song, he is going back to ballads this time. Lee Ki Chan’s ballads have always been top 3 hits in the past, let’s see if he can recapture his glory days.

Arirang TV: The title song of BIGBANG’s first album, "BIGBANG Vol. 1 SINCE 2007"
This funky pop-dance song is infused with a cheerful beat and a light-hearted melody. It’s a satirical song about how people’s lives and dreams can change because of money. BIGBANG’s lively, almost cheerful vocal style counteracts the weightiness of the song’s message, neutralizing the piece.

Arirang TV: Included on Eru’s second album. The richly emotional ballad was written by the artiste himself. The lyrics are about a man who misses his girl friend on a snowy day. The music video was shot in Sapporo, Japan.

Arirang TV: Featured on The Nuts’ second album titled "WHISPERS OF LOVE," this ballad with poignant lyrics comes after a two-year hiatus. Actor Ji Hyun-woo plays the guitar in this rock-band. The song is about the heartache of love and separation. All the memories of love are like getting a scolding while feeling sorry for a love that will soon be forgotten.
