BIOGRAPHY:

Our featured artiste this week is Big Bang. Big Bang is a 5-member group recruited by the YG Family. Big Bang started off with 6 members, which was first introduced to us in July 15, 2006 through Big Bang Documentary that was shown on gom tv. Through their documentary it showcased each member's talents & abilities, the hard work and pain they had to go through in order to become YG's new group. The decision from YG was to form a 5-member group by the end of the documentary, but unfortunately one member had to leave.

The documentary shot the band into the spotlight and helped it gain attention in the Kpop scene. The members of the band are all talented performers; from vocals and rap to dance and songwriting, Big Bang filled its debut album with music created by the members themselves. G.DRAGON and T.O.P wrote the lyrics of their debut single. All 5 members of the band will not take part in each song; each member of the band will choose the songs that best showcase their talents. G.DRAGON and T.O.P., who both excel in rap, will perform “We Belong Together” and the R&B ballad “A Tearful Fool” will be performed by Tae-yang, Dae-sung and Seung-ri.

Big Bang adopted the familiar strategy of many new successful boy bands. It released 3 singles before releasing its 1st full album in late 2006. This strategy let its fans warm up enough to their music before it came out in full force with their full album. The title song of Big Bang's full album "Dirty Cash" became its first No. 1 hit. Recently the band has also released its 1st live concert album. Each one of Big Bang's singles and albums has been selling very well. All the members need now is more TV exposure. Big Bang has all the ingredients to become one of the top boy bands in Korea, if it is not already there. Very soon, we should find Big Bang starting to work on overseas markets.
