Weekly Music Chart 2007 - March week 4

No. 1 song: Ivy scores her first No. 1 song with "유혹의 소나타" (Temptation of Sonata). She edged out Lee Ki Chan's 2 week No. 1 song "미인" (A Beauty) by a single point. Ivy is the first female solo artiste to hit No. 1 in 9 months. The last time it happened was Baek Ji Young's "사랑안해" (I Won't Love) back in June of 2006. Ironically, both songs are written by Park Keun Tae. The timing of the popularity of Ivy's song is perfect, as her album is also topping Hanteo's weekly sales chart and this song is also No. 1 on a lot of internet charts now.

Biggest Mover of the week: MC Sniper's "봄이여 오라" (Oh Spring, Come) moves up 18 spots to No. 28 this week. This song features the vocals of Yuri and is more commercial than previous MC Sniper songs. MC Sniper is also performing on almost every gayo shows to gain more exposure, and his album is selling well. Looks like this song has a good chance to become his first top 10 hit.

Hot shot debut: Korean charts are usually dominated by males, but female singers are doing very well this week. Nine out of the top 20 songs are by female solo singers or all female groups. Jewelry member Seo In Young's "너를원해" (I Want You) is our highest debut this week at No. 14. Seo In Young is known for her vocal ability together with Park Jung Ah in Jewelry. She employs a hot and sexy concept in her first solo album "Elly Is So Hot". Let's see if she is as successful as Park Jung Ah for her solo songs.

New songs: A very active week as we have 14 new songs.

Songs to watch out:

3. Tei – 같은 베개 (Same Pillow) – Probably will challenge Ivy for the No. 1 spot next week. This song's score is already topping 900. Tei is trying to maintain his 100% No. 1 record on the title song of his album.

6. Superjunior-T – 로꾸거 (Ro Ggu Guh!!!) – Again missing out for the biggest mover of the week, but quietly moves up 12 spots to No. 6 already. This is another song that is expected to challenge for the top spot in the near future.

10. Jang Nara – 사랑부르기 (Calling Out Love) – Jang Nara scores her 1st top 10 song in 2 years. A perfect gift for her as she just celebrated her birthday last week. Even though her album is not selling as well as it used to be, her title songs are still always making the top 10, and this one is no exception.

22. Free Style – 수취인불명 – Hip-hop duo comes back for their 5th album. Last album was disappointing as it failed to produce any hits after the big suceess with the song "Y". This new song is mid-tempo main stream type of hip-hop song similiar to "Y".

23. KCM (feat. Hwa Yobi) – 사랑이올까봐 (Because Love Can Come) – We are seeing an increasing number of male-female duets this year. This song is another one, and is a real good one. KCM's husky voice and Hwa Yobi's powerful R&B style vocal make wonderful music. This song replaced KCM's previous hit "안녕" (Goodbye).

38. Lyn – 이별살이 (Separate Life) – Lyn has just released her 4th album. Her 3rd album was a bit disappointing but looks like this song will top that. It is debuting right after its release. When sales numbers kick in, the song should move up fast.

41. Sang Sang band – 가지마가지마 (Don't Go Don't Go) – This modern rock group had a highly acclaimed first album but did not produce any hits. This song is from the newly released 2nd album. They are playing safe this time with a rock ballad.

42. The Cross – 사랑하니까 (Because I Love You) – Another underrated rock group which has been lurking around with good songs for a while. This song is a MC The Max style rock ballad, from their new digital single.

43. MC The Max 2 기 – 미운오리새끼 (Ugly Duckling) – Speaking of MC The Max, here they are. But this is not the original MC The Max. Their record company is creating another gorup with a similar style (like Bay Vox and Baby Vox Re.V). This song is really similar to the powerful rock ballad music style of the original MC The Max. I couldn't tell the difference the first time I listened to this song.

45. K.Will – 왼쪽가슴 (Left Chest) – A very promising new R&B artiste. K.Will had a collaboration with Lim Jung Hee in her 2nd album last year, and is finally debuting with his first solo album. This song is an R&B ballad that really showcases his vocal skills. The style reminds me a little bit of the group Noel.
