Weekly Music Chart 2007 - July week 4

No. 1 song: This is a week with a lot of movements on the chart, but F.T Island held on to No. 1 with "사랑앓이" (Painful Love). This song is again No. 1 on M!Countdown this week. It is really impressive that this new group is able to hold off strong competition from Fly To The Sky's "My Angel".

Biggest Mover of the week: This week we have 3 songs moving up 20 spots or more, and 2 others moving up 10 spots or more. But the honor for the biggest mover, as some of our readers have predicted last week, goes to Superjunior's "행복" (Happiness). This remake of H.O.T.'s song moves up 28 spots straight into the top 10 at No. 8. The song is coming from SMTown's 2007 summer album, which is doing very well on the sales chart.

Hot shot debut: R&B group Wanted has our highest debut this week with "I Promise You" at No. 10. On this album, Wanted collobrated with Lee Jung. They were all former member of 7 Dayz. That's why the album is titled "7 dayz & Wanted". Wanted had a highly acclaimed debut 3 years ago, and member Ha Dong Kyun had a successful solo album last year with the overall No. 1 song "그녀를사랑해줘요" (Please love her) on our chart in 2006. Lee Jung has 2 songs on the top 20 this week – this song and the duet with J "with tears".

New songs: We have 9 new songs and 1 re-entry this week:

Songs to watch out:

2. Fly To The Sky – My Angel – moves up 14 big spots to No. 2 this week, and is almost certain to be the No. 1 song next week. This song actually has a slow start, only entering the chart last week, but is gaining ground in a hurry. Almost every title song from the duo has gone to No. 1, and they will probably add to their collection of top hits very soon.

5. Kim Dong Wan – 손수건 (Handkerchief) – in any other weeks, this song may have been the biggest mover of the week. After a slower than expected move last week, this song is moving up 22 spots to No. 5 this week. The main reason is that the album sales score is taking into account now. Dong Wan is matching success with other Shinhwa members who released their solo albums: all of them have top 5 hits. This song is written by rising songwriter Yoon Myung Sun, who has written ERU's "Black Glasses" last year and Magoply's "Flight Girl" this year.

17. SG Wannabe – Stay – the 2nd highest debut this week. "Stay" is already the 3rd single from SG Wannabe's 4th album. The first 2 hits from this album both had traditional instruments arrangement. This song has a more "modern" R&B beat that is closer to what we hear from SG Wannabe previously.

19. Typhoon – 그대만 (Just Then) – the 3rd song this week with a 20+ spots jump. This is the title song from their 2nd album "Travel". The song has an interesting rhythm. The trio already scored a top 10 hit earlier this year with the digital single "기다릴게…" (I'll Wait). This song should do better as it is coming from the album.

20. Bobby Kim – 일년을 하루같이 (One Year One Day Together) – I think this is the first TV drama song that makes the top 20 this year, coming from the very successful SBS mini-series "War of Money". There are 2 OSTs from this drama. This song is coming from OST Vol. 1.5. This is a mid-tempo R&B song with Bobby Kim's laid back style.

37. CSJH The Grace – 女友 그녀들의 수다 (Chattering Ladies) – Follow up song to "One More Time, OK?", this song has a more mid-tempo dance beat. Let see if it is as successful as the title song which went up to No. 3.

38. Zia – 물끄러미 (Absentmindedly) – A highly recommended song from a faceless female singer whom the record company labeled as "the female Naul". The faceless singer concept was very popular in k-pop a few years ago (Jo Sung Mo, Brown Eyes, Kim Bum Soo). I don't recall any female singers trying this concept before. Zia may be the first one. This is a very good ballad song. The music video (and also the album single cover) starred actress Kim Ok Bin.

45. Sweet Sorrow – 사랑한단말이야 (Drama Bad Couple OST) – Another drama OST song. This one is from the drama "Bad Couples" starring Ryu Soo Young and Shin Eun Kyung. The drama doesn't have a high rating, but it doesn't affect this song's popularity. Sweet Sorrow has participated in many drama OSTs recently. This song is about loving someone no matter what – even if the person leaves.
