Weekly Music Chart 2007 - August week 1

No. 1 song: Fly To The Sky's "My Angel" finally overcomes F.T Island's "사랑앓이" (Painful Love) to become our new No. 1 song this week. Fly To The Sky has scored many No. 1 songs in the past and this one is no exception. The competition is quite weak now so look for this song to stay on top for a few weeks.

Biggest Mover of the week: Unlike last week with a lot of songs moving up fast, this week is a lot quieter with only 2 songs moving up more than 10 spots. New singer Zia's "물끄러미" (Absentmindedly) moves up 11 spots to No. 27 and is our biggest mover of the week. She was supposed to be a faceless singer for now but her face was finally revealed (sort of). A few months ago, she appeared on KBS Yoon Do Hyun's Love Letter singing a duet "물론" with KCM (the solo version of this song is also recorded in her debut single album). The performance can now be viewed on youtube. "Absentmindedly" is an excellent ballad featuring Zia's smooth voice. The song should have no trouble moving up further.

Hot shot debut: See Ya changed to a new song this week with "결혼할까요" (Shall We Marry?) debuting high at No. 10. This song we can see a complete transformation of See Ya. Contrary to the R&B songs they sung previously, this song is a cute mid-tempo pop song which is tailor made for summer and should get them even closer to pop audiences. I find the tune of this song a bit similar to PK Heman (featuring Lee Ji Hye)'s "Evergreen" earlier this year. That song is a hip-hop ballad which has a slower melody than this song. Both songs are written by the same songwriter.

4. Superjunior – 행복 (Happiness) – Perhaps the next song to challenge Fly To The Sky for the top spot moving up 4 more spots to No. 4 this week. With the group's popularity and good sales number on SMTown's summer album, this song should be moving up further next week.

9. Typhoon – 그대만 (Just Then) – 2nd biggest mover of the week, up 10 spots to No. 9 this week. This is the 3rd top 10 songs by Typhoon, as they continue to try to shake away images of being the 2nd Koyotae. This song has a more techno feel than their debut hit "So" last year.

18. V.O.S. + (Hyun Joon) – 나 이젠 (I Now) – After a few weeks bubbling under the top 20, a strong showing on the various internet charts finally push this R&B song into the top 20. Featuring Monday Kiz's Lee Jin Sung, this becomes another nice duet on the top 20.

20. Yangpa – 그대를 알고 (Since Knowing You) – Like See Ya, Yangpa also changed to a new song this week. This ballad is more similar to past Yangpa hits than her previous No. 1 song "사랑…그게 뭔데" (Love…What Is That?). Yangpa sings with a lot of emotions. The song is written by another famous songwriter, Kim Do Hoon. Looks like a lock for another top 10 hit.

21. M – Stomp – Just missed out debuting on the top 20, but may move straight into the top 10 next week. The title song from M's (Min Woo) 3rd solo album. This song is an urban hip hop song. M personally flew over to the U.S. and visited a company that provided music sources and samplings to bring out the best background sound for this song.

39. Mina (feat. AK'SENT) – Look – "World Cup Girl" Mina is back with her 4th album. This song is already very popular on Cable Channels in Korea. The track features American rapper Ak'sent. It's about wanting to give all your love to one special guy.
