Weekly Music Chart 2007 - November week 2
No. 1 song: Wonder Girls’ "Tell Me" is No. 1 for the 3rd straight week. They were able to hold off Big Mama’s "배반" (Betray) by 13 points. Besides winning the top spot here, Wonder Girls were also No. 1 at MNet’s M!Countdown, and repeated as winner of the Inky Gayo Mutizen Award this week. Wonder Girls scored a treble No. 1! Congratulations to them.

Biggest Mover of the week: It is not often that a song repeated as the biggest mover in two consecutive weeks, but it has happened to J-Walk’s "여우비" (Light Rain) this week, moving up another 12 spots to No. 8. Looks like this song will be the 2nd big hit for J-Walk since "Suddenly". Fans have not forgotten them even though they have been out of action for a long time.

Hot shot debut: If this is indeed Lee Seung Chul’s last album, it will be a huge loss for k-pop. Fans should cherish his songs now. His newest song "사랑한다" (I Love You) is our highest debut at No. 13 this week. Over the years, Lee Seung Chul has been a consistent hit maker, whether with the group Boo Hwal or his solo efforts. This rock ballad should have no trouble hitting the top 10 again. Pretty soon we may find another song related to Lee Seung Chul in the top 20 as well – SNSD have remade his song "Girls Generation", which and is the title song of their 1st album.

New songs: We have 9 new songs and 1 re-entry this week.

Songs to watch out:

5. Koyote – 사랑공식 (Love Formula) – Yet another top 5 song for this ageless co-ed dance group (they are still quite young BTW), moving up 7 spots this week to No. 5. Instead of working with regular long time producer and songwriter Joo Young Hoon, this time Koyote are working with an all-star combination of Kim Se Jin and Kim Do Hoon on this song. Kim Se Jin wrote and produced most of the hits for Typhoon so we can see the similarity.

15. Sung Shi Kyung – 한번더이별 (Break Up One More Time) – Our second highest debut at No. 15 this week. This song again is written by singer-songwriter Yoon Jong Shin, who is responsible for Sung Shi Kyung’s six-week No. 1 song "거리에서" (On the Street) last year. Sung Shi Kyung is rumored to be headed to military service soon but he wants to release one more album before doing so. This song is from a single album, perhaps a warm-up for his 5th album.

18. F.T Island – 한사람만 (Only one person) – Already the 4th hit from their debut album, this song is an accoustic ballad that is good for the coming winter season. F.T Island are trying to solidify their chances of winning the best new artiste award in one of the strongest rookie classes in recent memory. Their album is still in the top 20 after almost 5 months of release. ohmy.gif This song’s popularity should be a good indication of how well they are going to fare in year-end awards.

21. Shin Hye Sung – 지우고, 버리고, 잊어도…(Erase, Abandon, Forget) – Shinhwa members Shin Hye Sung, Kim Dong Wan, Lee Min Woo all released their solo albums at about the same time, and it is a coincidence that the repackaged versions of these 3 albums were also released recently. This is another good ballad from Shin Hye Sung, who just missed out on being No. 1 with his previous hit "첫사람" (First Person). The music video, made as a follow-up piece to "First Person," shows Shin Hye Sung acting as a man who has no choice but to break up with the woman he loves.

29. Youn Ha – 혜성 (Comet) – We just talked about Hye Sung above and now we also have a song titled "Hye Sung" (meaning Comet in Korean) on the chart. laugh.gif This song is re-make of Youn Ha’s Japanese hit of the same title. Youn Ha debuted in Japan first before making it back to Korea. The style of up-tempo pop-rock has become a trademark for Youn Ha, who is also a prime candidate for the new artiste award. The song is already No. 2 on M!Countdown this week, and will probably be our biggest mover next week.

34. Seo Ji Young – 인형의 꿈 (Doll’s Dream) – Seo Ji Young surprised all of us by singing a jazz melody song in this remake album. The song was originally a hit song by Weather Forecast in 1996 and it has been remade many times. The lyrics are about a girl comparing herself to a doll and experiencing a one-sided love.

35. DBSG – 천년연가 (Eternal Love Song) – Fans have been waiting for a new song from DBSG who have been rather quiet in Korea this year after winning many awards in 2006. This song is the title song of MBC drama "Tae Wang Sa Shin Ki", starring Bae Yong Joon. As the title implies, it is a ballad. Japenese soundtrack master Hisaishi Joe composed the song and the ballad brings out DBSG’s poignancy. Even though we don’t expect to see DBSG promoting this song on gayo shows, the drama has good ratings and the OST is selling quite well, so we expect this song to move up and stay in the chart for a while.

50. Sprinkler – 보물섬으로의 항해 (Voyage to the treasure castle) – A recommended song for a new modern rock band led by former Eve member G. Gorilla. Like many modern rock bands in Korea, Sprinkler features a female vocalist. Let’s see if they can crossover to mainstream with this song.
