Weekly Music Chart 2007 - November week 4

No. 1 song: Not much movement among the various charts in Korea this week. As a result, our top 3 songs remain the same. Wonder Girls’ "Tell Me" is No. 1 for the 5th straight week, Youn Ha’s "혜성" (Comet) is still No. 2, followed by Koyote’s "사랑공식" (Love Formula). Other songs are quite far below in scores. "Tell Me" is still gaining scores even though it has been on top for 5 weeks now.

Biggest Mover of the week: As expected, the honor goes to Brown Eyed Soul’s "My Story". This song has top scores in both Hanteo’s album sales chart and songs chart, and is also doing well on various internet charts. Brown Eyed Soul had never appeared in any gayo shows previously, and we are wondering if this Na-Ul-led group will come out to perform. Yoon Gun, the other ex-Brown Eyes member, came out to perform on gayo shows for the first time in his career earlier this year.

Hot shot debut: Yet another strong showing by a rookie artiste. SNSD’s self titled hit "소녀시대" (Girls Generation) is our top debut this week at No. 9. This is the title song from their first full album, and it is a remake of Lee Seung Chul’s hit song. While it is pretty hard to link SNSD and Lee Seung Chul’s music together, as both have very different styles. The two units did a "special stage" collaboration together in Music Bank last week. Lee Seung Chul himself has his own top 5 song in "사랑한다" (I Love You) this week as well.

New songs: We have 6 new songs this week.

Songs to watch out:

4. Sung Shi Kyung – 한번더이별 (Break Up One More Time) – After a small 1-spot move last week, Sung Shi Kyung regains his chart topping power this week with a big 10 spots move to No. 4, leapfrogging a lot of good songs. Let’s see if this song’s path will be like our current No. 1 "Tell Me", which started out slowly but eventually found its way to the top.

18. MC The Max – 사랑을 외치다 (Call out love) – Like I said last week, it seems like every year around this time, we’ll find a powerful rock ballad from MC The Max, a group that always have wonderful songs tailor-made for winter. Their latest hit moves up 14 spots this week to No. 18. This is another emotional ballad that showcases Lee Soo’s strong vocal.

20. Eun Ji Won (feat. Mr. Tyfoon) – Adios – Ex-Schekches members have 2 songs in the top 20 this week: J-Walk’s "여우비" (Light Rain) is at No. 8, and Eun Ji Won has the week’s 2nd highest debut at No. 20. Since going solo, Eun Ji Won has become a hip-hop artiste. This song features another rapper, Mr. Tyfoon, that enables Eun Ji Won to concentrate more on the vocal parts of the song. Keeproots, another talented hip-hop musician, wrote this song for Eun Ji Won.

22. Suh Young Eun – 아름다운구속 (Beautiful Restriction) – Each of the last 3 years, Suh Young Eun has released a remake album. This year is no exception. This song comes from her "Romantic 3" remake album. Unlike the Romantic 1 and 2 which featured more mellow ballads, this time she’s remaking a rock ballad from Kim Jong Seo with rock guitar arrangement. It is one of the better remake songs I’ve heard recently.

31. Kim Jo Han – 사랑이늦어서미안해 (Sorry For The Love Being Late) – Our 2nd biggest mover this week, up 19 spots from the bottom of the chart to No. 31. This ballad is written by Sung Shi Kyung, which brings out a new style from Kim Jo Han as a ballad singer instead of R&B. Jessica of SNSD stars in the music video as a woman who’s lost love, shedding tears in some of the more moving scenes.

38. Byul – 가슴은 아니까 (The Heart Knows) – It’s been a busy year for Byul (Star). She released a solo album, participated in drama OSTs, and now she has a mini-album out. This ballad is written by "Hitman" Bang Shi Hyuk, who has recently worked closely with another JYP artiste Lim Jeong Hee. Bang also wrote Byul’s big hit "눈물샘" (Lachrymal Glands) last year.

45. Super Junior – Marry U – It’s a pity that their previous hit "Don’t Don" did not score too well on Korea’s internet charts and it affected the popularity on this chart as well. Let’s see if Super Junior can rebound with this latest hit, coming from a repackaged version of their 2nd album. Even though it debuted low, it will probably move up fast next week and is a strong candidate for the biggest mover.
