Weekly Music Chart 2007 - December week 2

No. 1 song: Rookie power reaches an exclamation point this week as all top 3 songs are by new artistes debuting this year! This is a good year for female singers too. The top 3 songs this week are all by female singers and groups. I think this is the first time in a long while. Anyway, after several weeks at No. 2, Youn Ha’s "혜성" (Comet)" is finally able to unseat Wonder Girls’ 6-week No. 1 song "Tell Me". Congratulations to Youn Ha. Not far behind at No. 3 is SNSD’s "Girls Generation", which will challenge for the top spot next week.

Biggest Mover of the week: For the 2nd straight week, Super Junior’s "Marry U" is our biggest mover, up another 16 spots to No. 10. It’s their 2nd top 10 hit from this album, and looks like this song will surpass the No. 8 position that "Don’t Don" reached.

Hot shot debut: His students are all doing very well on the chart. Now it is the teacher’s turn to come out and show his power. Golden producer Park Jin Young (JYP)’s first album in 6 years is doing exceptionally well. The title song "니가사는그집" (The house you lived in) made a very high debut this week at No. 4. JYP hit No. 1 six years ago with "난 여자가 있는데" from his last album, and he may be ready to challenge for the top spot next week. In addition, his two proud students Wonder Girls and Lim Jeong Hee are all in the top 10 this week.

New songs: After a couple of quiet weeks, we have 12 new songs this week.

Songs to watch out:

3. SNSD – 소녀시대 (Girls Generation) – Already a two-time champion of the Inky Gayo Mutizen award, and also the new No. 1 song in the latest M!Countdown chart, this song is moving up three more spots this week to No. 3. Looks very likely to be the next No. 1 song on this chart.

15. Zi-A – 바이올린 (Violin) – Even though she is still a faceless singer, Zi-A is right there to compete with others for best new artiste this year. Her latest hit is our 2nd highest debut this week at No. 15, coming from a compilation album "Music Story". This ballad is as good as her previous hit "물끄러미" (Absentmindedly), which is also written by top songwriter Cho Young Soo.

26. V.O.S – 부디 (By all means) – Because of the popularity of their last hit "매일매일" (Everyday Everyday), it took a while for this follow-up song to be ranked on the chart. This is another emotional ballad that showcases the trio’s vocals. The music video was made with footage from the movie "My Father," starring Daniel Henney.

38. Lucid Fall – 사람이었네 (You were a person) – If you are looking for alternative sounds, this is definitely the kind of singer and song to check out. This song is a combination of light and folk rock with an easy listening melody. Lucid Fall’s music is highly acclaimed in the industry despite not being promoted often.

40. Kim Dong Hee – 그대를 그대를 (You You) – Another highly recommended song from a new female singer. This R&B ballad showcased the singer’s powerful voice. The music video, starring model Bae Jung-nam and Jung Ae-yeon, was shot without stunt doubles and garnered attention for a scene where someone jumps from a 50-meter crane while hanging on a wire.

49. Nemo – 독설…이 지독한 사랑… (Stinging…this cruel love) – Former Shinvi member Oh Sang Eun is returning as a soloist and adopted a stage name Nemo. During her days in Shinvi, Nemo was already known for her good vocal skills. Now under M-Boat, she finally has a chance to come back to the music industry. In this ballad, she surprised many by hitting all the high notes. Those who compared her songs now and previous ones from Shinvi cannot believe this is the same person.
