After six long years of training, pretty face Ajoo has debuted with his first single titled ‘First Kiss’. Unlike the music styles many singers in the Korean entertainment are bringing in at the moment, Ajoo has come into the music scene with ‘teen rock’, which most people note as pop rock. As Ajoo belongs to the same entertainment company as music sensation Younha, listeners may hear similarities in their music styles. This single, which includes two singles and their respective instrumentals, showcases what he has in store for listeners.
The single starts off with the title track ‘First Kiss’, which is very reminiscent of pop group LMNT’s song, ‘Juliet’. The lyrics, which are about a guy’s innocence and his feelings regarding his very first kiss, were written by Park Hwayobi, who was inspired by Ajoo’s lips. It’s a very happy song and definitely has the teen rock feel to it. Fans of boybands will probably enjoy this track. The second track, Alarm 06:00, likewise has a similar feel. However, unlike the title track, this song showcases his voice more as it requires powerful vocals to it.
In conclusion, I feel that Ajoo didn’t show listeners his full potential. Both songs were very mediocre and there really wasn’t anything special about the songs that would keep listeners attached. However, I feel that those who enjoy bubblegum pop would like this because Ajoo definitely has the sweet vocals, dancing skills, and looks to top it all. Hopefully, his next single/album would prove listeners like me otherwise.
