Biography. 

Wonder Girls took their first step into the music world on Feb 10, 2007. Prior to their debut, they had received much attention from netizens and citizens alike, being produced by JYP and Rain. The group – made up of three 16-year-olds and two 19-year-olds – gained recognition through their first single title track, Irony, and sang live from their debut. Youngest Ahn  Sohee encountered a motorcycle accident on June 25, 2007 while filming her first movie “I Like It Hot.” Sohee’s movie, “I Like It Hot” hit up to No 6 on top-10 movie charts. Soon after, on July 31, Kim Hyuna, a rapper of the group, was pulled out by her parents due to chronic gastroenteritis. A month before their first full-length album, JYP pulled in Kim Yoo Bin, former Good Entertainment trainee, into Wonder Girls via the introduction of Mark PD.

The girls started the ‘Tell Me’ craze all throughout the country of Korea like a virus in the latter half of 2007. The catchy song managed to put the five girls in the hearts of Koreans and the history of K-pop music for generations to come. The relatively simple dance and the addictive beat sampling from SOS hit music (Stacey Q’s – Two of Hearts) led to numerous UCC videos of fans dancing along to Tell Me. Through the song, the girls were able to win the Newcomer Award on MKMF, Anycall Popularity award and Digital Bonsang on 2007 Golden Disk Awards.

The Wonder Girls continued their popularity rise and showed interest in collaborating with idol boy band, Big Bang. They performed several skits and special stages with each other, leaving the netizens in a frenzy for more Big Bang and Wonder Girls action. 

On May 22 this year, a preview of Wonder Girls’ 3rd project, So Hot, was released and soon took the No 1 position on various online charts. A week later, Wonder Girls had their comeback on Inkigayo with So Hot and This Time, a soft, soothing ballad that is different from the concept of So Hot. Within a week of their comeback, the quintet were able to clinch the No 1 spot for two weeks in a row at KBS Music Bank, once again ensuring their popularity continues to rise.
