Album Review: Epik High – Lovescream
Epik High – LoveScream

Epik High are always good at surprising me, and I rather like surprises like this mini-album that was released on Sept 30. Mellow and soft, it is an album that is very easy on the ear and very easy to get into and enjoy. The sound at times is almost ambient trip hop with minimal lyrics and instrumentation, and I can seriously say I am in love with this album more than any other I have bought this year.
Track 6 1분 1초 (One Minute, One Second) is the title release, the MV of which was released just after the album and can be seen HERE. It is catchy without being irritating, a melancholy reflection of a failed relationship and how it can still linger in small reminders. Of the other tracks, I especially like Butterfly Effect for its well written rap and Harajuku Days for its mellow atmosphere – a fully instrumental piece that doesn’t feel out of place and perhaps one designed to have you invent the story behind it.
Whilst I wish the album were not so mini, it is good to know that quality is chosen over quantity. I just hope it gets all the publicity it deserves and doesn’t get swamped by other comebacks and releases that it is having to compete with.
5/5 – Even if you’re not a fan of this artist/group this album is a must buy.
4/5 – If you’re a fan of this artist/group, you must buy this album.
3/5 – If you’re a fan of this artist/group, you might want to add this one to your collection.
2/5 – I don’t think a fan would even buy this.
1/5 – You might as well just flush your money down the toilet
