Comment: After much debate as to whether this song could hit No. 1 on this chart without any performances on MNet’s M!Countdown, the question was put to rest this week as "Gee" is debuting at No. 2 on M!Countdown despite no performances.  As a result, this song has risen to No. 1 on our chart, pretty much blowing away the competition as it now receives scores from all our chart sources.  It should be just the beginning of many weeks on the top spot as this song is No. 1 all over Korea.  Congratulations to SNSD.

Comment: Already enjoying fame even before she officially debuted, 17 year-old May Doni made her first appearance last year when she was featured on PDIS’ project album.  Her strong vocal made a quick impression on fans.  Now she is finally debuting as a solo singer.  Yoon Il Sang (IS of PDIS) is in charge of her single album.  The title song "Mola ing" has been rising fast each week in the chart and this week it breaks into the top 20.  This mid-tempo R&B tune can go either way – faster to become a dance track (the IS mixed version on the album) or slower to become a ballad track, which is the version on our chart.

Comment: Jessica H.O previous had a top-20 hit with Uptown, but this is her first solo top-20 song, and is also our biggest mover of the week.  When Jessica first debuted, she was doing primarily pop dance songs.  Ever since she joined Uptown, she has been switching more and more to hip-hop, and is getting more acceptance.  This song is no exception.  It is an up-tempo hip-hop / R&B song in which we can hear both her vocal and her rapping.

The Christmas version of the song samples the carol, Noel, to bring out the wintery feel and listeners will be able to sing along to the melody in no time. This ballad was composed Lee Joo Ho, who also wrote Eru’s White Snow and Son Dam Bi’s Invisible Person, and Lee Hyuk Joon, who is famous for music producing as well as musical directing.
