GeeMusic + Lyrics: E-Tribe

Album:
SNSD mini-album Vol. 1 Track 1 Purchase this album
Watch: MV Live Performance
Comment: SNSD’s "Gee" remains No. 1 for the second week in a row.  The song has a slight drop in score but it is still way ahead of the competition.  It is still No. 1 on most major charts in Korea.  Even though it will be "retired" from Inky Gayo after 3 straight wins on Mutizen award, expect this song to still enjoy good scores next week to maintain its No. 1 position.

Comment: Featured in Big Bang’s 2nd album, "Remember," this track shows off a solo transformation by the group’s youngest, Seung-ri. It’s a modern, pop-style dance track with an intense rhythm and melody. Seung-ri casts off his cute-boy image and presents a sexier, manlier side in the music video. Comment: Underrated R&B singer Bobby Kim is back with a special album, and its title track "Love…This Person" is No. 6 again this week.  Throughout the years, Bobby Kim is known for his soulful voice which adds to the pureness of his R&B ballads.  He has also done a lot of drama OST songs.  His albums are always selling well and stay on the chart for a long time.  Looks like this song will also stay in the top 20 for many weeks to come.

7. (New) SS501 – 내 머리가 나빠서 (Because My Head Is Bad) *** HOT SHOT DEBUT ***
Score: 546
Genre: Pop

BoysOverFlowerMusic: Oh Joon Sung / Lyrics: Oh Jung Sung, Eun Jong Tae

Album:
KBS Drama "Boys Over Flowers" OST Track 2 Purchase this album
Watch: MV Live Performance
Comment: Our highest debut this week is SS501’s "Because My Head Is Bad", from the OST of the highly popular KBS Drama "Boys Over Flowers".  We haven’t seen a drama OST song ranked this high since Park Hyo Shin’s "Snow Flakes" a few years ago.  Originally the theme song for Yoon Ji Hoo (SS501’s Kim Hyun Joong), this song quickly became popular as the ending song for the drama. This is the second song performed by Heo Young Sang, Kim Kyu Jong and Kim Hyun Joon from SS501 after "U R Man". (credits to ~S2~)

8. (New) Baek Ji Young – 입술을 주고 (Give Your Lips)
Score: 497
Genre: Pop / Dance

BaekJiYoung7Music + Lyrics: Bang Shi Hyuk
Album: Baek Ji Young Vol. 7 Track 2 Purchase this album
Watch: Live Performance
Comment: When Baek Ji Young first debuted, she was famous for her Latin dance-style songs.  Since switching to ballads with great success, we haven’t heard her performing a dance song for a long time.  Her latest hit "Give Your Lips" reminds us of her roots as a dance artiste.  This song is also written by "Hitmen" Bang Shi Hyuk, who wrote her No. 1 ballad "Like You Got Shot By A Gun".

Comment: This is the title track of Kara’s same-titled mini-album. It is a pop dance song representing Kara’s cheerful and cute image. The lyrics describe the "rules" of looking beautiful. The refreshing melody and the concise chorus with the repetitive phrase "pretty girl" make this song very addictive. (credits to Arirang TV – Pops In Seoul)

Score: 404
Genre: Pop / Dance

AfterSchool1stMusic + Lyrics: Brave Brothers

Album:
After School 1st mini-album "New Schoolgirl" Track 2 Purchase this album
Watch: MV Live Performance
Comment: The 1st rookie group in 2009 to hit the top 20, After School is a promising new girl group with members Park Ga Hee, Yoo So Young, Lee Joo Yeon, Kim Jung Ah and Pekha. Not to be confused with school girls despite their name, After School has a mature and sexy image and all but one members are in their 20s.  The five girls list the Pussycat Dolls as their role models, and specialize in melodious hip hop and electronic cuts complemented with dance performances. After an intensive preparation period of over two years, the gorgeous girl group steps on the K-pop scene with a mini-album "New School Girl".  The title track "Ah" is written by fast-rising Brave Brothers, who has written many hit songs in the past few months.

15. (+7) T – 떠나지마 (Don’t Leave)
Score: 375
Genre: R&B Ballad

DontLeaveMusic + Lyrics: Yoon Myung Sun
Album: T digital single "Don’t Leave" Track 1
Watch: MV Live Performance
Comment: After giving birth to her baby with Drunken Tiger, T (Tasha) is coming back with an R&B ballad "Don’t Leave" which should attract mainstream listeners. Yoon Myung Sun, who is known for composing Eru’s Black Glasses, composed this song and Bang Shi Hyuk, who has composed Baek Ji Young’s "Like Being Hit By a Bullet", took charge in arranging it. This song is about remembering the hurtful memories about love.

16. (-1) May Doni (feat. Kwon and Jung Jin Woon of 2AM) – 몰라 ing (Mola ing)
Score: 331
Genre: R&B Ballad

7TeenMusic + Lyrics: Yoon Il Sang
Album: May Doni Single Album "7Teen" Track 2 Purchase this album
Watch: MV Live Performance
Comment: Already enjoying fame even before she officially debuted, 17 year-old May Doni made her first appearance last year when she was featured on PDIS’ project album.  Her strong vocal made a quick impression on fans.  Now she is finally debuting as a solo singer.  Yoon Il Sang (IS of PDIS) is in charge of her single album.  The title song "Mola ing" is at No. 16 this week.  This mid-tempo R&B tune can go either way – faster to become a dance track (the IS mixed version on the album) or slower to become a ballad track, which is the version on our chart.

17. (-1) Rumble Fish – 비와 당신 (You And The Rain)
Score: 323
Genre: Rock Ballad

Memory4uMusic + Lyrics: Bang Joon Suk
Album: Rumble Fish remake album "Memory For You" Track 3 Purchase this album

Comment: This is the title track of Rumble Fish’s remake album “Memory For You”. It is a remake of a song that actor Park Joong-hoon performed in the movie “Radio Star”. It features gentle strings, acoustic piano sounds and the enthralling voice of vocalist Choi Jin-yi. The song exudes a different charm from its original version, and its lyrics evoke memories of a past love to the sound of rain. (credits to Arirang TV – Pops In Seoul)

20. (-1) Jessica H.O – 인생은 즐거워 (Life Is Good)
Score: 291
Genre: Hip Hop/R&B

TheRebirth
Album: Jessica H.O digital single "The Rebirth" Track 1
Watch: MV Live Performance
Comment: Jessica H.O previous had a top-20 hit with Uptown, but "Life Is Good" is her first solo top-20 song.  When Jessica first debuted, she was doing primarily pop dance songs.  Ever since she joined Uptown, she has been switching more and more to hip-hop, and is gaining more acceptance.  This song is no exception.  It is an up-tempo hip-hop / R&B song in which we can hear both her vocal and her rapping.
