title track of their latest mini-album. “Love Like This” which was

This is the representative track for SHINee’s third mini-album, “2009,
Year Of Us.” The Afro-electro song was produced by hitmaker Yoo

synthesizer sounds. Its cartoon-like lyrics are about feeling like you
have bells in your head when in love. (credits to Arirang TV – Pops In

Rounding out the top 5 is See Ya’s “His Voice”. See Ya has made a
comeback with a new mini-album which includes new member, Sumi who
replaced former member, Nam Gyuri. The title track is His Voice which
was composed by Lee Minsu who has made Brown Eyed Girls’ LOVE and
Abracadabra. This song is catchy on first listen with a catchy melody
line, “Solgit Solgit, Holic Holic, Chullung Chullung.” Its fun lyrics
and vocals flow well in this electronic pop number.

Watch: MV Live Performance
Comment:
In this era of artists releasing singles and mini-albums, as popular as
2PM this is their very first full studio album titled “1:59”, where
listeners can see how much they matured. The title track is “Heartbeat”
which does not have an exact genre but shows 2PM’s style. One can hear
the sounds of a person’s heart palpitation along with drums and a full
orchestra, which all flow together to make a dynamic feel. “Heartbeat”
moves up 25 big spots and is likely to hit No. 1 for the most part of
December.

Score: 622
Genre: Pop / Dance
Music: Park Jae Sung, Yoo Gun Hyung / Lyrics: Park Jae Sung
Album: Ivy Vol. 3 Track 3 Purchase this album
Watch: MV Live Performance
Comment:
Two years ago, Ivy rose to become one of the top female soloists in
Korea. Her career was briefly derailed by a scandal with her
ex-boyfriend. Now she puts the past behind her and finally returns with
her third studio album. This album showcases both her innocence as well
as her sexiness. The album title is “I Be” which means I’m Ivy as well
as I’m Starting and I Exist. The title track is “Touch Me” which is a
pop number that has a simple melody with electronica sounds. It was
composed by Psy and Yoo Gun Hyung. Like her past hit, Sonata of
Temptation, “Touch Me” shows her sexiness and charisma only Ivy can
bring out. Due to extremely strong competition, “Touch Me” dropped one
spot to No. 7 this week despite gaining in points.

8. (+9) F(x) – Chu~♡
Score: 613
Genre: Pop / Dance

Album: F(x) first single Chu~♡ Track 1 Purchase this album
Watch: MV Live Performance
Comment:
F(x) who got listeners attention with their debut hit “La Cha Ta”,
returns with their first single album ‘Chu~♡’ consisting of three
songs. Their title track ‘Chu~♡’ is a cute and trendy Euro-pop song.
The song is about a girl whom awakens after receiving a kiss, and is
filled with curiosity and expectations of wanting to get to know the
world. This week it becomes their 2nd top 10 hit as it moves up 9
spots. F(x) debuted later than other top rookie female groups this year
but is finishing strong. It will be interesting to see whether this
song can take them into running of the top new artists award at year
end.

9. (–) Park Bom – You And I

Comment:
Singing his way to the top of the popular talent show program Mnet
Superstar K, Seo In Kook now takes the next step in his music career
with his debut album. You may see a bit of resemblance to 8Eight in his
debut song “Calling You”, as the song is written by Hitman Bang who
wrote all of 8Eight’s hits. 8Eight’s Baek Chan also help penned the
lyrics. This song is ranked high in many internet and airplay charts in
Korea. Even though he debuted late this year, Seo In Kook is still
considered one of the top rookie male soloist of 2009. This week
“Calling You” dropped 5 spots to No. 10.

Watch: MV Live Performance
Comment:
Lee Ssang fell 8 spots to No. 11 this week with “Girl That Can’t Break
Up, Guy that Can’t Leave”, the title song from their 6th album
“Hexagonal”. The duo firmly established themselves in the mainstream
with their 4th album in 2007, with the No. 1 song “Ballerino”, now
having their 2nd chart topping hit. However, they went very quiet with
their 5th album last year, which they did not actively perform and
promote. This 6th album they switched label to Jungle Entertainment for

collaborates with Lee Ssang.

Watch: MV Live Performance
Comment:
This is the title track of MBLAQ’s debut single album “Just Blaq.” It
has a heavy hip-hop beat combined with intense synthesizer and guitar
sounds, and it represents MBLAQ’s good start as a new band. The speedy
drumwork, the fun rhythm of the rapping and the addictive chorus, “Oh
Yeah,” add charm to the song. (credits to Arirang TV – Pops In Seoul)

Watch: MV Live Performance
Comment:
Besides MBLAQ, another debuting boyband that creates a lot of hype is

name AJ earlier this year. Jang Hyun Seung (SO-1) was the eliminated
sixth member from Big Bang’s pre-debut reality program, and Yoon Du Jun
was one of the JYP trainees from 2AM and 2PM’s pre-debut reality
program. Along with Yang Yo Seob, Son Dong Woon, and former Xing member
Yong Jun Hyung (Poppin’ Dragon). Their debut hit “Bad Girl” is s catchy
dance song written by Lee Sang Ho and Shin Sa Dong Tiger, who wrote

Last year, IU debuted with “Lost Child”, a ballad which is beyond her
age but showcased her vocal power. This year, she is switching to a
cute concept consistent with her age and having a lot of success. Now
the teenager returns with her latest mini-album. The title track
“Marshmallow” is another cute and colorful dance song. It is a hybrid
of the 60’s rock and roll and french pop which is currently popular
worldwide. It’s the perfect combination of retro and modern which

written many hit songs recently, wrote this song for IU. It is our
biggest mover of the week, up 32 spots to No. 14.

the blockbuster KBS drama, Iris. The song will be the romance theme
song for Lee Byung Hun and Kim Tae Hee. The story is action packed with
lots of betrayal and romance. The song which was composed by top

Big Mama’s Lee Young Hyun released her 1st solo album “Take It”. Like
Big Mama’s music, most of the songs from Lee Young Hyun’s solo album is
designed to showcase the singer’s powerful vocal. The difference is
that the genre is more pop ballad oriented rather than R&B. Lee
Young Hyun also acts as producer of this album. The title track “Sorry
For Loving You” made it to the top 20 this week, moving up 11 spots to
No. 16.

Comment:
Last year, One Two released “Bad Woman” featuring the vocal of
Jewelry’s Seo In Young. That hit really put One Two on to the map. Now
the same team reunited again to produce the part 2 of this song “Bad
Woman 2”. It is moving down three spots this week to No. 17. Seo In
Young is also performing this song with One Two on stage, which should
help its popularity.

Score: 358

Score: 323
Genre: Hip-hop
Music + Lyrics: Dynamic Duo
Album: Dynamic Duo Vol. 5 Track 5 Purchase this album
Watch: MV
Comment:
Dynamic Duo, a pair that has made hits with every album release, is
back with a 14-track fifth album before they enter into military
service. If one were to explain the musical elements of this album, one
can say that there are less electronical elements and more instruments
and live recordings. There are also more drum and bass dance sounds
incorporated into the songs. One can hear singing rather than just pure
rap in songs. The title song “Guilty”. Despite the duo not coming out
to perform and promote the song, it still manages to become a top 10
hit.
