Comment: Kara strengthens their hold onto the
No. 1 spot with “Lupin”, still gaining in score despite strong
competition coming from behind. After surprisingly winning the top female
group on our last year’s Soompi Gayo Award, Kara continues their strong
showing on our chart. The title song “Lupin” is from their recently
released 3rd mini-album of the same name. Kara vowed to return to a
more fierce image on this mini-album, a concept that did not fare too
well when they used it on their debut album. But that was then and this
is now. Kara has developed a large and loyal fan base now and fans are
more receptive of their change in concept this time.

Comment: Uhm Jung Hwa is probably the first
true sexy diva in k-pop and many of today’s female singers got inspired
by her. Debuting back in the mid-1990s, Uhm Jung Hwa is multi-talented.
Not only did she sings, but she appears in both big and small screens
starring in many popular movies and dramas. It is very common now but
she was one of the very few multi-dimensional entertainers back in the
days. In the past few years, Uhm Jung Hwa focus her career on movies.
She did revitalize her singing career in 2008 with the release of her
mini-album “D.I.S.C.O” and was one of the great come back story of that
year. Even though Uhm Jung Hwa is most famous for her dance music, the
song we introduce here is her most famous ballad and was a big hit back
in the 1990s. “A Love Only Heaven Permits” was coming from her 2nd
album in 1995. Last year she performed this song again at KBS Yoo Hee
Yeol Sketchbook to the delight of many fans.
