Biography:

KARA
is a 5-member girl group from Daesung Entertainment (DSP), the same
agency which handles SS501. KARA originally debuted as a 4-member girl
group with the title, “2nd Fin.K.L” back in March 29, 2007. Their debut
song was titled“Break It” and they displayed a mature and boyish
image. After their 1st album promotions, the group planned to make a
comeback in March 2008. However, Kim Sunghee (lead vocal) left the group
due to parental pressure causing a delay in the group’s comeback.
Because of their 10 months hiatus and lack of promotions, the group
struggled in gaining popularity.

Finally, KARA made their
comeback with “Rock U” on July 2008 but now as a 5-member group with new
members, Kang JiYoung and Goo Hara. With this comeback, they displayed a
“cute” and “playful” image. Things started to brighten up for the girl
group when they released their second mini album, Pretty Girl. Not only
was the song a hit, the addictive dance step was also well received by
fans. In February 2009, KARA finally achieved their first #1 award in
MNET Countdown and SBS Inkigayo with the song “Honey.”

During
the attack of the girl groups, KARA showed great transformation and
released their “Revolution” album as a mid-2009 comeback. Their comeback
song “Wanna” quickly charted in music charts and won a #1 award in SBS
Inkigayo. However, their follow up song, “Mister” became a bigger hit
because of the “butt dance” that became one of the biggest dance moves of the year. KARA’s popularity became quite eminent as
the group released commercials after commercials for food, online games
and clothing.

For their early 2010 comeback, KARA released their
3rd mini album “Lupin.” The title song topped many charts and was able
to give KARA #1 awards in MNET Countdown and SBS Inkigayo.
“Lupin” also gave KARA their first KBS MusicBank trophy since debut. The
song stayed #1 in MusicBank for three weeks.

With members pursuing
individual activities in variety programs and radios shows, plus the
non-stop calls from endorsements, girl group KARA celebrated
their 3rd Anniversary with lot of love from fans. It has been announced
that KARA will be filming more CFs for home appliances, beverage and
food. The group is also set to debut in Japan this summer (tentative)
due to the overwhelming response they got during their Japan showcases
in early February.
