BIOGRAPHY
For this week, Soompi featured artist is R&B duo, Vibe. They are known for their pure R&B sounds. Vibe debuted as a trio in 2002 with Ryu Jae Hyun, Yoon Min Soo, and Noblesse and recieved a good response from listeners for their first album. Their debut song “Still Want To Be With You Even Though You Hate Me” was popular for over half a year. Other songs in the album such as “For a Long Time” and “Looking At Some Pictures” were hits among the listeners as well as “Promise U.”

Later, they released their second album with the hit song “Soriya.” After being on hiatus for two years, they came back with third album. This time they became a duo when rapper Noblesse left to pursue solo activities. The title track, “The Man and the Woman,” which features female singer Jang Hye Jin, quickly became a favorite among the fans. Even without much promotional appearances on television or radio shows, the song topped various online music charts.

Despite declining album sales in the Korean music industry, each of Vibe’s first three albums had sold more than 100,000 copies.

Now in 2010, Vibe has made a comeback after four years with their fourth studio album, titled In “Praha,” after both members had finished their army services. In the meantime they are also active producing songs for others singers. The title song, “Come To Me Again,” is written by Ryu Jae Hyun. The MV of this song stars popular actress Lee Ji Ah. The album itself has been steadily climbing up the charts. At the title of the album suggests, the jacket pictures were taken in Praha. WIth this new album, fans can see the another side of Vibe that has never seen before.

Vibe has been in the music industry for nearly nine years. Yet, they have only released four studio albums and they also don’t appear often on TV shows to promote their songs. They prefer quality over quantity and to win their listeners’ hearts through their music. They once again prove that good music will receive good reviews.
