Comment: CNBlue remains No. 1 with “Love” for the second straight week. Being the top rookie group in 2010, CNBlue had hyped up the music scene with their single, “Loner” earlier this year has returned with their second mini album. Their songs are upgraded alternative rock based ballads with a hint of rap, showcasing their full potential as a band.

Comment: SS501’s “Love Ya” is moving up fast and challenging CNBlue for the top spot. After their mini album last September [REBIRTH], SS501 is recognised for [Love Like This],[WASTELAND],[Just One Day]is back with new mini-album (DESTINATION). SS501 worked on this album for 3 months after finishing their Asia Tour. This album worked as a world project and even the jacket cuts are gaining attention. American Producer Steven Lee who worked with REBIRTH (famous for global gold disks) is back for another run and this album is quite universal with a combination of American, European and and Korean sounds. This album can be recognised and differentiated from other groups for less electronic sounds but more piano, lived based to express SS501’s sincere emotions. The title song LOVE YA is produced by Steven Lee and rings out with the harmony of the orchestra and piano. This allows SS501’s powerful but sincerity to be expressed. This week it moves up another seven spots to No. 2 and will be the favorite to take the top spot next week.

Comment: 4Minute, one of last year’s top rookie female group, has returned with their second mini album, Hit Your Heart with an even stronger image. Their title track is “HUH” which was composed by Sinsadong Tiger. It holds lyrics about not being able to hold one’s dreams down, and being different from others. This week it moves up four more spots to No. 3.

4. (-2) Wonder Girls – 2 Different Tears

Comment: Despite their brief promotion, Wonder Girls is still in the top five with “2 Different Tears”. This song once again has a retro theme. The group has had much success since their debut with hits including, “Tell Me,” “So Hot,” and “Nobody” and have even debuted in the United States while performing as the opening act for the Jonas Brothers Tour last year. Their new album includes three versions of the title track, “2 Different Tears” as well as the English versions of their past hit songs. The title track is about the sad and happy feelings one has for their lover after breakup. The exciting 80s retro sounds and rhythm will capture listeners’ ears right away. This month, Wonder Girls will be doing their American concert tour. We wish them all the success.

Comment: 5-member boy band, MBLAQ is back with their second single album. Through this comeback, the group is expected to show fans different sides of them with songs ranging from dance, emotional ballads, to stylish Jazz& R&B numbers. The title track is “Y,” a song with strong bass and drum sounds. The boys’ strong vocals are to be showcased in this song, composed and penned by Rain himself. Due to strong competition it drops one spot to No. 5 this week.

The title track is “Write Love and Call It Pain,” a work co-produced by hitmaker Park Geun Tae and Jung Byung Gi. This week it moves up 19 spots into the top 10 at No. 9.

Comment: Korea’s top diva and singsong writer, Hwayobi has returned with her seventh album in celebration of her ten year anniversary as a singer. The songs included in the album will represent the singer herself and the style most people know her for. Hwayobi was penned all the songs and composed six of the ten songs, including the title track, “Bye Bye Bye.” The track is about a woman and her feelings after breaking up without looking back. This week it moves up seven spots into the top 10.

Comment: One of the top R&B groups in Korea is back! Vibe has finally made a comeback after four years with their fourth studio album, titled In Praha. Members Ryu Jae Hyun and Yoon Min Soo are active writing songs for other artists but it’s been a while since the duo had their own release. Fans and non-fans alike will enjoy the group’s emotional vocals that had been missed. The album jacket was taken in Praha, the city of love. The title song “Come To Me Again” is written by Ryu Jae Hyun. The MV of this song stars popular actress Lee Ji Ah.

Comment: IU, who had debuted at a young age of 16 with ballad number, “Missing Child” showcasing her strong vocal at such a young age, returned with a new single. The title track is “Nagging” which was co-composed by Lee Min Soo who was responsible for Brown Eyed Girls’ “Abracadabra” and G.Gorilla of bands, Eve and Sprinkler. Seul Ong of 2AM is featured in this song, garnering interests among fans. This song has already topped many internet rankings in Korea despite no live peformance by the singer yet. It is our highest debut this week at No. 14.

Comment: Lyn makes a comeback after half a month with the second installation of her sixth album, Candy Train. Through this album, Lyn hopes to shows another side of her with brighter love songs. This album is for those who are waiting for their love one or have already fallen in one. The title track is “Darling, Honey, Love” composed by hit maker, Hwang Seong Je, who had also produced her previous album. It is a cute, listener friendly medium tempo R&B track with strong hip hop beats, perfect for this spring/early summer season. It also features a cute and colorful MV. The style is totally different from Lyn’s previous songs. This week it remains at No. 15.

This album is to go astray from the popular music of today, bringing forth an album with no regrets. The title track is “Half of Half” which is in homage to the Beatles’ “Reasons.” The instruments in the song were taken into careful consideration to bring out the vintage feel. With solid album sales as usual, it propels this song into the top 20 this week at No. 16.

Comment: Monday Kiz has returned this month with their fourth album. They recruited a new member, making it now a trio. Korea’s top production crew has participated in the makings including composers such as the Kim Do Hun/ Lee Hyun Seung combo, Han Sang Won, who was responsible for past hit song, “Disperse,” and Park Hae Wun. In addition, member Lee Jin Sung produced the entire album himself in addition to taking part in composing and penning some songs. This is the first album as a group since the unfortunate passing away of member, Kim Min Su. The title track is “Don’t Go,” composed by Kim Do Hun and Lee Hyun Seung and penned by member Lee Jin Sung. It is a medium tempo ballad number with hints of hip hop, incorporating strong drum beats and string arrangements. This cross-over genre number brings out a new feel listeners will enjoy. This week it moves up two spots to No. 17.

Comment: We have not yet introduced a song from movie OST’s, and this one is a classic. Shin Seung Hoon is known as “the king of ballad”. He debuted way back in 1991 and is already very well known in Korea before he sings “I Believe”, the theme song from the ever popular movie ‘My Sassy Girl” starring Chae Tae Hyun and Jun Ji Hyun. This movie may not be the best selling in the box office, but many fans got into Korean entertainment after watching this movie. To international fans, this is a classic Korean movie. They also discovered Shin Seung Hoon after he sings this tender love song which can be heard over and over again during the movie. It becomes one of his biggest hits and also bring him international fame. This song is so famous that many singers from other countries covered in their own language. Shin Seung Hoon is still very active in the music industry now and he is one of the most veteran singers.
