Lee Hyori Sued By Interpark For $500K
Online fashion website Interpark has reportedly filed for a $500,000 lawsuit against singer Lee Hyori with the argument that her actions as a singer had enormous negative impacts on its business.
Back in June, singer Lee Hyori publicly admitted to plagiarizing for the majority of her songs in her fourth album, which was released in the beginning of the year. Soon thereafter, Lee Hyori abruptly discontinued her activities as a singer, as well as stopped modeling for the internet fashion website, Interpark, for whom she renewed a contract with last August.
Representatives of Interpark stated, “Due to the collapse of Lee Hyori’s bright and respectable public image, the financial losses and damages to our company have been unbelievable. A mere calculation of the ramifications of Lee Hyori’s early and illegal termination of her contract, as well as our inability to have her as our model already comes out to 492,880,000 Won (~$500,000). As soon as we have a more detailed and accurate calculation, we’ll add to that amount.”
It seems as though one of Korea’s original female idols is going to have a hard time getting out of this one.
