Rain Addicted to Gambling?

On October 18^th, it was revealed that Rain is facing a lawsuit in the American courts for gambling charges. Some people are already calling him the “2^nd Shin Jung Hwan”.

It all started with Korean American Andrew Kim, who claimed that Rain borrowed $150,000 from him to play baccarat and hasn’t paid him back for the past three years. On June 25^th, Kim took the issue to court.

According to Kim, Rain has a serious gambling addiction. He was gambling with enormous amounts of money in Las Vegas before his concert in L.A. Upon losing all of his money playing baccarat at the Bellagio in Las Vegas, he turned to Kim to borrow money saying that he’ll “pay [Kim]back as soon as possible.” Kim also added that Rain has bet up to $10,000 before.

Rain’s company, J-Tune Entertainment, is rejecting the claims saying that they are “groundless”. Speaking through a lawyer, the company claims that “Andrew Kim was a promoter who was in charge of Rain’s concert in L.A. during his world tour. He handled the money between Rain’s company at that time and Star M, the company that was in charge of the tickets. He never exchanged any kind of money with Rain personally.”

As for Rain’s apparent “gambling addiction”, the J-Tune Entertainment stated that “Rain arrived in America on June 17^th, two weeks before his concert on June 30^th, to prepare for the performance and had a very busy schedule. On the 24^th and 25^th, Rain did visit Las Vegas but only to meet with his friends to celebrate his own birthday. Even so, he was only able to stay for a short while because the issue surrounding his concert in Hawaii was blowing up at around that time. As such, he never gambled on a serious level.”

Representative Dong Won Cho from J-Tune Entertainment had this to say in a recent interview: “I’m so angry that I can’t sleep. At this point, I feel like we can’t just sit around and do nothing. Rain has never gambled, has never made any monetary exchanges with Andrew Kim, and has never consulted with anyone about becoming a permanent resident in America (*note: another accusation being made by Kim). We’re going to countersue him and do everything else we can do in our legal right. We’ll even request an international investigation – we’ll use every means and methods.”

“Rain and I are both enraged by this malicious claim,” said Cho. “But the fact that people are half in doubt about the truth is driving us crazy. Jung Ji Hoon has no relations to any of these claims by any means. He really is a healthy person. We will reveal reveal the truth at any cost.”

It’s been a difficult few months for many celebrities. Hopefully, the truth will come out sooner than later so that the issue can get resolved quickly.
