SBS Drama "The Giant" Leads Monday-Tuesday Spot Eighth Week Straight
The SBS drama “Giant” topped the Monday-Tuesday prime-time slot for the eighth consecutive week, according to National Multimedia Statistics (TNmS). It held an average viewership rating of 30.45 percent. Its AGB Nielsen rating was 29.5 percent. Earlier this week, “Giant” also maintained its spot as the most-watched show on Korean television for seven weeks straight.
The epic drama, which stars Lee Bum Soo, Hwang Jung Eum, and Park Sang Min, takes place in the 70’s and 80’s, which is unusual for a Korean drama. It follow the lives of three siblings who have been separated during their youth but reunite as adults to avenge the death of their father. Judging by the ratings, “Giant” must be as exciting as it sounds!
In second place was the MBC drama “Queen of Reversals”, with a much smaller average rating of 9.2 percent, according to TNmS. The drama’s rating dropped significantly from last week’s 14 percent mark. “Queen of Reversals” stars Jung Joon Ho and Kim Nam Joo as a married couple who try to balance their work and love life.
In third place was the youth-oriented KBS drama “Mary Stayed Out All Night”, with a rating of 7.1 percent, according to TNmS. The drama, starring heartthrobs Jang Geun Suk and Moon Geun Young, features a double contract marriage between one girl and two men. Its latest episode on Tuesday was canceled due to special coverage about North Korea’s shelling of South Korea’s Yeonpyeong Island.
