Kim Dong Wan Discusses Shinhwa Reunion

Good news for Shinhwa fans!  Member Kim Dong Wan has stated that the group may reunite and release a new album by fall 2012.

The 31-year-old singer recently held his first fan meeting for the past two years.  Since December 2008, Kim had served as a public service worker to fulfill his mandatory two-year military duty.  He was discharged from the military on December 7.

The fan meeting was attended by 1,000 fans from both Korea and overseas.  Kim sang for his fans and discussed his experience as an entertainer (as well as being a vocalist for Shinhwa, the multitalented performer acts and has a solo singing career).  He also revealed that he plans to make a comeback in Korea in January.  Before that, he will spend two weeks in Japan to promote his new album, “Kim Dong Wan Japan Premium Best”, which will be released in that country on December 15.

Kim will sign with the entertainment agency Live Works Company, who also represents fellow member Shin Hye Sung.

Discussing the possibility of a Shinhwa reunion once all the members finish their mandatory military service, Kim seemed very optimistic and spoke in terms of “when”, not “if”.

“I personally think the album should come out before the fall of 2012 since everyone else will be done serving their military duties by early 2012 and we’ll start working on the album straight away,” he said.

He added, “It’s not just me. Every one of us want to perform on stage again as Shinhwa and I think it’ll be fun, although not easy to work on the album.”

Shinhwa’s last album was released in 2008.
