Rain Named TIME Magazine’s 2011 Top 100 Most Influential People

Singer/actor Rain has made it to the “2011 TIME 100,” the annual list of 100 most influential people in the world compiled by TIME Magazine. This marks the second time Rain has made it to the prestigious list—he was first included in 2006—making him the first Asian celebrity to ever achieve that feat. The only celebrity to make the list more than three times is George Clooney.

TIME Magazine described Rain as: “The South Korean pop star turned actor Rain, 28, took the top spot in the TIME 100 reader poll for the third year, trouncing competitors from Barack Obama to Lady Gaga. That’s pretty impressive online power for a guy whose main claim to Western fame is a role in the 2009 film Ninja Assassin.”

Rain has also topped the TIME online poll for “The World’s Most Influential Person” for the third consecutive year and has been nominated as a candidate for the TOP 100 list six years in a row, firmly establishing himself as a true global star. TIME even made a separate photo section dedicated to Rain with nine different pictures of the singer and his world tour performances.

Other people to make this year’s list include: Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Oprah Winfrey, Justin Bieber, Bruno Mars, Sting, and Mark Wahlberg, among many others. Rain will fly to the U.S. on Apr. 24th to attend the official party for the “TIME 100” scheduled for Apr. 26th. He will return to Korea on Apr. 28th to continue filming his upcoming movie, “Red Muffler.”
