Actress Lee Ji Ah has shocked Korea with her marriage and divorce to 90s pop icon Seo Taiji. While they finalized their divorce back in 2006 (in America), they are currently in a legal battle over asset division. Lee is suing Seo for approximately $5.5 million, and fans are curious as to how exactly how much Seo Taiji owns. While nothing can be confirmed, it has been estimated that he roughly owns between $30 million to $40 million.

In 2009, Seo Taiji was chosen as the star who owned the most expensive building among Korean celebrities by Economy Plus. His building is situated in Gangnam, one of the most expensive neighborhoods in Seoul. He bought the property in 2002, and the building is estimated to be currently worth plus or minus (depending on the currency exchange) $20.9 million. Additionally, Seo Taiji & the Boys, his rock band, sold over 7 million copies of their albums since their debut in 1992 up to 1995. His 1998 and 2000 solo albums also sold over a million copies each. 

Basically, Lee Ji Ah is asking for less than 16% of Seo Taiji’s wealth as a divorce settlement. Doesn’t the amount seem relatively small – especially now that Lee Ji Ah’s deep dark secret has come out into the world, and her image as well as career is on the line? After all, image is all that matters in the acting industry. Furthermore, most divorced couples usually split their properties in half, with a few exceptions. Considering that her career would be in jeopardy, it doesn’t seem likely that Lee Ji Ah spilled the news about her secret marriage and divorce, and the same goes for Seo Taiji…Then who did?
