Super Junior Picked as Model for Japan’s “Circle K Sunkus”

Super Junior hasn’t done any official promotions in Japan yet but is popular enough to be picked as the main model for “Circle K Sunkus,” one of Japan’s largest convenience store franchises. “Circle K Sunkus” said in a statement that they picked Super Junior as their main model because the boy band is “an all-around entertainer group not just popular in Japan but all over Asia.” Super Junior has already finished filming the commercial in February as it is scheduled to begin airing from May 16th. The commercial will also feature Super Junior’s first Japanese single “Bonamana,” which is set for release on June 8th, as its background music. “Bonamana” is the Japanese version of Super Junior’s 2010 hit single “Mi In Ah (Bonamana).” Prior to its release, “Bonamana” will first make a ringtone version available on May 18th. It’s quite surprising how Super Junior has been able to attract so much attention in Japan without putting out a single album in the country. In fact, the boy band has pulled in more than 36,000 fans to “Super Junior 3rd ASIA TOUR SUPER SHOW 3 in JAPAN” held in Yokohama last February, showcasing their growing presence in Japan. The group has seen wide success in countries like China, Singapore, and Thailand—will they be able to continue their popularity in Japan as well?
