SM Entertainment Considers Adding Additional Concert in Paris

The hallyu wave is definitely making a splash in Europe. Tickets for SMTown Live World Tour in Paris have sold out within 15 minutes of being released. SM Entertainment (SM) affiliated stars like Dong Bang Shin Ki (DBSK), Super Junior (SuJu), Girls’ Generation (SNSD), SHINee, and f(x) will greet their fans for the first time on European soil on June 10th.

On May 1st, over 300 European fans, who couldn’t get their hands on the limited 7,000 tickets, held a flash mob event at the Pyramide de Louvres in Paris in an attempt to convince SM Entertainment to add another concert. Over 4,000 fans signed a petition requesting an additional concert in Paris. Korean broadcasting stations covered the phenomenal event. As a result, SM is considering adding one more concert, and the outlook remains positive. Kim Eun Ah, an associate of SM Entertainment, stated, “We’re currently checking our artists’ schedules and are discussing a possibility of adding a second concert.”

Kim added, “The popularity of k-pop has been steadily increasing in Europe, but there was no way to truly verify this. Our sell-out concert, as well as the mob incident, allowed us to directly feel k-pop’s impact in Europe. The hallyu wave has made its way around the world. It was amazing to see Caucasians singing along to k-pop during last year’s Los Angeles concert.”
