Celebrate Asian Pacific American Heritage Month with Verizon Wireless

Happy Asian Pacific American Heritage Month (APAHM)!  Those of you who live on the East Coast can celebrate in good form, thanks to Verizon Wireless!  For the past four years, Verizon has done a great job of recognizing Asian American leaders in the world of fashion, sports, business, and entertainment.  For 2011, they are holding a an Asian American Visionaries conference and video contest.

The APA Visionaries Conference is a free one-day event featuring guest speakers model Jenny Shimizu, kickboxer Cung Le, producer Teddy Zee, and news correspondent Suchin Pak, who will share their insights on what it means to be an Asian American visionary.  It will be held on May 26 from 7 PM to 9:30 PM at the Grand Ballroom In Webster Hall in New York City.

The APA Visionaries Video Contest is open to all legal US residents living in Verizon’s Northeast Area who are 18 years of age and older.  Applicants should submit a video of one minute or less explaining three points:

    •    What is your idea and what makes it visionary?
    •    How can a $5,000 grant aid in helping your idea become a reality?
    •    How would you envision integrating Verizon Wireless’s wireless technology in the practical application of your idea?

The top 3 video submissions with the most “Likes” on VerizonAPAHM’s Facebook page will be invited to attend the conference, where the winner will be announced and have the chance to win the $5,000 grand prize and other great prizes!  The contest ends on May 20, 11:50 PM EST.
