YG Leaves Words of Condolence for Motorcyclist on YG Blog

An update was made to the official YG Life blog in the form of a message on Friday.  The post had been made in regards to the incident involving Daesung.  Just yesterday, Daesung paid a visit to the victim’s family to properly apologize and offer to pay for the victim’s entire funeral expenses.  Along with that YG Entertainment’s president Yang Hyun Suk had made a detailed statement and apology concerning the matter on the YG Life Blog back on June 1st.

The post made to the blog, on June 3rd, was more of a stripped down version of YG’s previous lengthy description.  YG’s latest post reads:
Translation: “I (we) apologize deeply to the family members of the one who departed due to an unfortunate accident and pray that he may rest in peace.”

The theory behind the reason for the changes made to the original piece is perhaps due to the fact that some netizens criticized his original published explanation.

Here is a quote made by YG from the original blog post on June 2nd: “Daesung, even if i were you, that situation would have been hard to avoid.”  An article posted by Newsen, on June 2nd asked, “Is this really for Daesung’s good?”  As we all know, unfortunately, Daesung was indirectly involved in a fatal car accident.  The article is concerned that because of the statements Yang Hyun Suk released in response to the accident that his sole interest is in protecting Daesung.  Some may argue that this is true, while others will disagree with this statement.

The Newsen author then used a quote from a netizen who criticized YG to back-up their claim saying, “You shouldn’t use people’s emotions on matters such as fatal incidents. Rather, accurate circumstances should be found and just punishments should be made. This is mandatory, considering the deceased, and there are many people in the world who didn’t mean to be in an accident.”

Here is another netizen’s opinion on the matter stating, “It is only humane that you come out, apologize, ask for forgiveness, and visit the deceased’s family,” (The article was posted before Daesung’s visit with the family yesterday.)

Yet another netizen’s take, this time on the way media handles these situations, “The media is going faster than the police; reports should be made after the police makes accurate investigations and decisions.”

Perhaps it would be in the best interest of all parties if the media did stay out of the way until all the facts were released and the situation was handled.  In some ways the media’s involvement could have made things worse for all those involved, including Daesung.  That is if he is proven to be innocent.  In that case the damage to him and his reputation would already have been done caused by opinions and rumors rather than fact.  On the other hand a public figure who is involved in a serious case such as this, the public has a right to know.  If the news is kept secret and the media does not get involved, one way or another it will get out to the public.  So it almost seems impossible to keep quiet about it.

What is your take on this situation?  Do you agree with the statements that Yang Hyun Suk made?  Or are you on the side of the netizens?  Should media report these situations?  Or wait until everything is settled first?
