SNSD in Paris' "Genie" Is Most Viewed Video Worldwide

Girl group Girls’ Generation (SNSD) not only conquers their native Korea but also the world, if achieving “Most Viewed” status on the world’s most famous video sharing site YouTube is any indication.

The video of SNSD’s “Tell Me Your Wish” (“Genie”) performance in SMTOWN Live World Tour in Paris uploaded on SMTOWN’s official channel (www.youtube.com/smtown) reached over 1.5 million views on the weekend immediately after the June 10th and 11th concerts. For two days, on June 12th and 13th, the performance clip was the most viewed video worldwide.

It was also the most viewed video of the week in Canada, Australia, Britain, France, Italy and 20 other countries. In addition to YouTube views through the web, the video was also accessed through smartphones and spread through other portals and sites. It received hits from North America (Canada and the United States), Australia, Europe, the Middle East and other parts of Asia.

According to statistics, female viewers were mostly aged 13-24 while the males were around 45-54 years old. Korean viewers are mostly females under 20 and “samchon” fans, males aged 30 and over.

Aside from SNSD, SMTOWN Live World Tour in Paris also featured DBSK, Super Junior, SHINee and f(x), artists under the management of SM Entertainment. The attendance of 14,000 live audience for the two-night concert gives evidence to the spread of “Hallyu” through Kpop to the different parts of the world, including Europe.
