Big Bang Sets the "Gold" Standard in Japan

Ever since Big Bang entered the Japanese market they have captured the public’s attention as they continue to grow in popularity.

Today it was announced that Big Bang’s second full Japanese release “Big Bang 2”, which was originally dropped on May 11th, had received a Gold Album Certificate from the Japanese Record Association.  A Gold Disc Certificate is a special award that is presented to artists whose album has gone on to sell 100,000 copies or more.

“Big Bang 2” was released about a year and nine months later, after their first self-titled full album in Japan.  Just in the first week of the album being available it went on to sell 65,000 copies, cementing the first place spot on Japan’s weekly Oricon chart.  It just further demonstrates Big Bang’s strength and success overseas even before achieving the recognition of gold certification.

Not long ago Big Bang’s “Big Show 2011 Live Concert DVD” also has been successful even prior to being released as it managed to take first place on the on-line reservation chart of Japan’s Tower Records.  Continuing to show Big Bang’s power, the booklet topped the rankings as they beat out local acts like AKB48. The “Big Show 2011 Live Concert DVD” will hit store shelves on June 29th in Japan as well as in Korea.

Congratulations to Big Bang for their recent achievements!  May they continue to succeed in Korea as well as abroad.
