INFINITE Set for Japanese Debut in July

Just over a year old boy band INFINITE is ready to debut in Japan through a showcase in mid-July.  The seven-member group is the latest in a series of Korean pop groups who have begun or expanded activities in the Land of the Rising Sun.

According to INFINITE’s agency, Woollim Entertainment, the boys will hold a July 17th showcase in Osaka and a July 19th one in Tokyo.  Their debut was originally scheduled in April but was pushed back by earthquake and tsunami in some parts of Japan in March.  Plans for venturing into the Japanese market have been in the works since INFINITE had already signed with CCC, a subsidiary of Japan’s Tsutaya Records in 2010.

INFINITE precedes their formal debut in Japan with the April release of ringtone versions of their singles: “TO-RA-WA”(the re-titled “Come Back Again”), “She’s Back,” “BTD (Before the Dawn),” “Nothing’s Over” and “Hysterie.”

Woollim Entertainment said in a statement that the group has finished recording an album containing Japanese versions of their songs, though the album’s release date is yet to be decided.

INFINITE members Sungkyu, Hoya, Woohyun, Dongwoo, Sungyeol, Sungjong and L are reportedly busy studying Japanese to prepare for their July performances and TV show appearances, which will go on until August.
