SNSD & Big Bang in “Oricon Top 50 Album Ranking” for First Half of 2011

Oricon music charts announced its “Top 50 Album Ranking” for the first half of 2011 on June 22nd. Both SNSD and Big Bang have taken their albums to top 50 in the first round of the year!

As seen from the ranking, SNSD’s Japanese debut album “Girls’ Generation” ranks high at No.10 in the ranking, with a total of 325,658 copies sold within a month. Meanwhile, the EP they released in Japan last December, “Hoot”, which features many of their previous hits also made it to the ranking at No. 21! The girls have just finished their Japanese Tour across four cities with seven performances, and their 3rd Japanese single “Mr. Taxi” is receiving explosive popularity as well.

Another Korean group to make it into the Top 50 album ranking is Big Bang! The boys have taken their 2nd Japanese album “BIGBANG 2” to No.35 with a total of 91,217 copies sold. The long-awaited album was released on May 11th right before they kicked off their “Love and Hope Tour 2011” in Japan.
