Kim Dong Wan to Play Independence Fighter Lee Yook Sa

Kim Dong Wan will star in a two-part series to air on MBC this month.  The actor/singer has been cast as the male lead of the special historical drama, “Zenith,” which will premiere on August 15, which is Korea’s Liberation Day.

Kim said, “I was offered the role and after reading the script for the shown I couldn’t help but be immersed in the character Lee Yook Sa.”  Lee Yook Sa was a patriot and poet who devoted his life to Korea’s liberation from Japanese rule in the early 20th century. 

After this, Kim will release a Japanese single, “My Summer Girl,” on August 24.  The album will include a duet with singer/songwriter Hirose Kohmi.

Currently he reprises the title role in the musical “Hedwig and the Angry Inch” in Seoul.
