Early on in the drama, Dooli, a Korean cartoon character created in the 1980s, appeared when No Eun Seol (Choi Kang Hee) gave Cha Ji Hun (Ji Sung) a gift in order to thank him. Also, the coffee shop where Ji Hun worked part-time was a branch of Holly’s Coffee, a popular Korean chain. The mobile phones and tablets that the cast use are all Samsung products, such as the Galaxy Tab which has been prominently featured in the drama.

In the 10th episode aired on September 1, Cha Mu Won (Jaejoong) took Eun Seol on a date, and the two watched “The Hen That Left the Yard,” a Korean cartoon movie which attracted over 2 million domestic viewers.

Korean media has stated that, “Even though CEO Cha’s DN Group is set as one of the biggest conglomerates in Korea, everyone uses cards from a domestic brand and when Mu Won and Na Yoon (Wang Ji Hye) dine together, they usually meet in Korean restaurants rather than at Japanese or expensive Western restaurants.” They also went on to conclude that, “Aside from historical dramas, most dramas use many foreign products, but ‘Protect the Boss’ has made sure that even the smallest of details contains domestic products, giving it the title of the ‘Best domestic brand promoting drama.'”

“Protect The Boss” was recently extended to a total of 18 episodes.
