Tickets of BIFF Opening Film “Only You” Sell Out in 7 Seconds
Tickets for the opening film of the 16th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF), “Only You,” starring So Ji Sub and Han Hyo Joo, sold out soon after sales opened on Sept 26 at 5 PM. Tickets for the screening in the BIFF (outdoor) Theater were sold out in 7 seconds, while tickets for the screening in Theater 1 at the CineMountain were sold out in 20 seconds. The opening film for last year, “Under the Hawthorn Tree” by Director Zhang Yimou, had sold out all 2000 tickets in 18 seconds.
Chronicles of My Mother (Harada Masato / 2011)
This year’s closing film, “Chronicles of My Mother,” sold out all 1500 tickets in 1 minute 23 seconds, setting a record for a closing film in the festival’s history. Last year’s closing film, “Camellia,” had sold out in 3 minutes 58 seconds, also a record.
Online ticket sales for the remaining films will start from Sept 28, while smartphone mobile-web reservations will start from Sept 29. More than 307 films in 11 categories will be screened in the 16th BIFF, including world premieres for 89 films and international premieres (first screening outside the film’s home country) for 46 films. The 16th BIFF will be held over 9 days, from Oct 6 to 14.

Note: The English title of the movie “오직 그대만” is called “Always” in the BIFF, though more commonly known in English media reports as “Only You,” which is a literal translation of the Korean title.
