IU Reveals Reason for Deleted Hug Scene in "You and I" MV

Why didn’t the back-hugging scene make it into the music video? On a recent episode of Park So Hyun’s Love Game that aired on December 5, IU revealed the reason.

In the music video for the title song “You and I” from her second album “Last Fantasy”, IU and actor Lee Hyun Woo acted as a cutesy couple, depicting the fluttering feelings of love. In one scene, Hyun Woo hugged IU from the back! Sadly, this scene was later removed from the music video entirely.

IU said, “The backhug was a first- for both of us. I don’t think most girls even have the experience since it’s not really common. And Hyun Woo doesn’t have a girlfriend so he didn’t really know how to either.”

“In a backhug, you’re supposed to wrap around the shoulders first but Hyun Woo hugged me between my arms and my hips. I felt like he was trying to do the Heimlich Maneuver on me,” she continued with laughter. (For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Heimlich, it’s performed on a person who is in an emergency situation due to an obstructed airway- a.k.a. choking.)

She said that the scene was shot 5-6 times, but later on was removed entirely due to the awkwardness.

Here’s the full MV: (My personal favorite is 6:02- 6:16, so cute!)
