Lee Seung Gi to Host New Variety Show

Singer/actor Lee Seung Gi has taken on a new challenge in the field of television by enlisting as the main host of an outdoor variety show. After “1 Night and 2 Days” ends its run in February 2012, Seung Gi will head directly into his main MC role in “Table for a Hundred” under SBS. 

The title for the new outdoor variety show is rather obvious, and the show itself is centered on- you guessed it- the outdoors and cooking. “Table for a Hundred” will be produced by Lee Juk Han, the same producer of “1 Night and 2 Days” who became really close with Seung Gi during filming since last July and have forged an alliance for their upcoming variety show.

While under final preparation, the details that are known to the public are that Seung Gi will bear responsibility for being the main host, while six to eight celebrity guests will be fixed, meaning they will appear weekly and assist Seung Gi in preparing, cooking, and hosting a huge dinner held outside in different locations for a hundred people. Another hot topic regarding “Table for a Hundred” is that actor Cha Seung Won is considered to a co-host with Seung Gi, but the actual decision is rather ambiguous. The actor has postponed a role for an upcoming drama but did not confirm his co-host title either.

A SBS spokesperson recently commented that “Lee Seung Gi has collaborated with producer Sin Hyo Jung in order to make ‘Table for a Hundred’ possible, but that is all that’s confirmed at this time.  The concept of the program, what time it will be broadcast, and who will be co-hosting is all up in the air at the moment.” The spokesperson further commented on the possibility of Seung Gi leading the show on his own, remarking, “Lee Seung Gi is already hosting ‘Strong Heart’ by himself- even the talk of him hosting another show by himself is ridiculous.”
