The Best to Worst Dressed at Award Ceremonies

As the year 2011 drew to a close and the new year 2012 approached, many broadcasting companies were busy with festivities. SBS, KBS, and MBC had award ceremonies, drawing in singers and actors alike.

Of course, rolling out the red carpet means fashion will be one sharp thing to look out for. There was a wide variety of fashions, from cold deflecting bright colors to short, revealing sexy outfits. Entertainers chose pink, yellow, and orange for a fresh appeal. Many celebrities opted for the safe black color to give off that classic chicness and charisma.

Dispatch looked back at the fashions of several awards ceremonies, and ranked them from “Best,” “Good,” “Bad,” to “Worst.” Let’s take a look at all the most “memorable” fashions.

SNSD‘s YoonA wins the title of “Best Dressed” for her angelic attire! At the 2011 KBS Awards on December 24, she wore an elegant beige colored chiffon dress. The dress graces her shoulders in an elegant manner, and extends down to hug her waist, giving her a very feminine look. The various flower corsage detailing on the bodice and waist, along with the ripples in the dress give her a goddess image. Because her hair is kept simple and kept in the back, her look is simple yet pretty. A title well earned.

In the “Good” category we have actress Gong Hyo Jin! She chose an eye-popping yellow gown for the 2011 MBC Drama Awards on December 30. Not only does the lemon yellow color of this dress make this gem stand out immediately, but the back detailing also draws attention. The back is cropped halfway, revealing her lower back. This dress is really fashion forward, worthy only of a true fashionista. The simple accessories allow the dress to be the center of attention.

Song Ji Hyo takes away the slot for the “Bad” category. For the 2011 SBS Gayo Daejun on December 29, she wore an eye-popping dress- but it wasn’t eye-popping for the same reasons that Gong Hyo Jin’s dress was. The slit detailing on the side of the dress may have worked had the first half of the dress been a more sophisticated design. The blouse-like top doesn’t do much to flatter her shape, and the belt looks like it’s undone. (Maybe it is time to hire a new stylist.)

And finally for the title of “Worst Dressed”, we have Seo Woo, who was present at the SBS Awards with her transparent-polka-dot-mermaid dress. The transparent polka dot fabric is too long, making it look like she is going to trip any second. It may have worked if the detailing around the legs was toned down by a lot and if the beige fabric was pulled down to cover up some leg. The dress is really short, and could have used a little lengthening to give a more classy look.
