IU and KARA on Japanese Catwalk
Popular artists IU and KARA went up on the stage for the major Japanese fashion show, “The 14th Tokyo Girls Collection 2012 SPRING/SUMMER,” held on March 3 at Yokohama Arena.
The theme this year was “Sherbet Garden.” One thousand top models and popular celebrities modeled spring and summer clothing. About 27,000 spectators came to see the fashion show.
IU will release her Japanese debut song “Good Day” on March 21. It was good publicity for IU to receive recognition for standing on the runway with top Japanese models.
KARA member Gyuri had undergone vocal surgery and Nicole had hurt her ankle, but KARA continued to gain a lot of popularity last year with their first drama “URAKARA.”
Tokyo Girls Collection started in August 2005. Held twice a year, the fashion show has a special feature where it is possible for attendees to instantly purchase the modeled clothes through one’s cell phone. The clothes are extremely popular with teens and those in their 20s.
