SXSW is an annual music, film, and interactive conference and festival held in Austin, Texas. It brings together artists, industry insiders, and fans every year to discuss, trade information, and celebrate the arts and media.

In the 2012 SXSW, a panel was held to address the question, “Do Music Moguls Know a Secret about K-Pop?” Music agents, journalists, and media people were present at the panel to discuss the market for K-Pop in the U.S.

Billboard.biz reported on the panel and you can find the complete article here. According to the article, the panel members talked about the competitive nature of the K-Pop industry, and the growing interest around the world in K-Pop.

Sang Cho, who is the chief operating officer of Korean TV company Mnet and who was also the panel moderator, stated that while in the past the interest in K-Pop by U.S. companies was only courteous, now the companies are actually taking a serious look at K-Pop.
