Girls' Generation YoonA Talks about Her On-Screen Rivalry with Yuri
During the press conference for upcoming melodrama “Love Rain,” YoonA talked about her friendly on-screen rivalry with fellow Girls’ Generation member Yuri. When asked if the two talked about their inevitable competition for the ratings, YoonA explained, “We encouraged each other and told each other to do a good job.” Another reporter followed up the answer with “Don’t you still hope that ‘Love Rain’ does better?” YoonA continued, “I hope Yuri’s drama does well too,” avoiding a direct answer. Her answers were firm, and she emphasized that the two were not competing against each other.”Love Rain” co-star Jang Geun Suk also humorously mentioned that Yuri was his favorite Girls’ Generation member.
“Love Rain” is a melo-love story set in two different periods – the 1970s and 2012. Jang Geun Suk and YoonA play Seo In Ha and Kim Yoon Hee, two college students who fall in love with each other in the 1970s; unfortunately, the two do not get their happily ever after. Fast forward to the present, Seo Joon, In Ha’s son (also played by Jang Geun Suk) meets and falls in love with Ha Na, Yoon Hee’s daughter (also played by YoonA). Jang Geun Suk’s 1970s Seo In Ha is a romantic arts student who is willing to lay down his life for the love of his life. His son Seo Joon, on the other hand, is a carefree photographer who enjoys a freewheeling lifestyle. YoonA’s 1970s Kim Yoon Hee is a pure, elegant “campus goddess,” while her daughter Ha Na is a bright and lovable character.
Meanwhile, Yuri made her grand appearance on SBS’s “Fashion King,” also starring Yoo Ah In, Shin Se Kyung, and Lee Jae Hoon, last night. In the series, Yuri plays Anna Choi, an attractive protégé of an internationally famous designer, who made a name for herself in America despite the stereotypes and hostility towards foreigners.
