Ratings Race: So Ji Sub's "Ghost" Close to Overtaking Joo Won's "Bridal Mask"

So Ji Sub’s “Ghost” is catching up with Joo Won’s “Bridal Mask.” According to AGB Nielsen, “Ghost” recorded 13.8%, a 2.4% increase from the night before. “Bridal Mask,” which has been holding on the lead since its premiere, saw a slight dip, recording 14.0%. As of last night, the difference between the two dramas is only 0.2%, which has led people to predict that “Ghost” will finally overtake “Bridal Mask” next week. Meanwhile, Kim Sun Ah’s “I Do I Do” is still behind the two with single digit ratings, recording 9.1%.

“Bridal Mask” is a period piece, set in the 1930s when Korea was annexed by Japan.  The story is about a man named Lee Kang To (Joo Won), an ordinary man by day and a masked avenger by night. He wears a traditional Korean bridal mask as he fights for Korea’s independence. Initially, he was a pro-Japanese police officer who later inherited the role as the masked freedom fighter following his brother’s death.

“Ghost” is a suspense drama that warns about the unexpected dangers that comes with the digital age. It focuses on the lives of Kim Woo Hyun (So Ji Sub) and Yoo Gang Mi (Lee Yeon Hee) members of a cyber investigation squad, cracking down on murder cases disguised as works by others through computers.

“I Do I Do” is a romantic comedy about Hwang Ji Ahn (Kim Sun Ah), a successful thirty-something-year-old, single, career woman who is the best designer at a footwear company. She has the complete package of brains, beauty, and talent. While she has no desires to marry or to have a family of her own, she faces a cruel ultimatum for any woman – menopause. Through coincidence she meets a handsome, young man named Park Tae Kang (Lee Jang Woo), whom she spends the night with. Unfortunately for her, Park Tae Kang is a walking disaster who does what she hates most in the world – ripping off designer shoes and selling imitations. Through a series of coincidental events, he gets accepted as a new recruit at Hwang Ji Ahn’s company. In the meantime, she also finds out that she’s pregnant with his child.
