Big Bang’s Seungri to Host Own TV Show in Japan

Big Bang’s Seungri has landed two TV MC spots in Japan, after spending only about a month in the country promoting his solo activities.

According to YG Entertainment, Seungri was named the host for Space Shower TV’s “V.I. FROM BIGBANG,” which aired its first episode on August 2. As the name of the show implies, “V.I. FROM BIGBANG” is a variety show that portrays Seungri building his own TV program. The official name of the show may also change after surveying the fans for a new name.

Seungri also appeared as a special MC for Fuji TV’s music show, “Sakagake! Music Rankming EIGHT.” He interviewed some of Japan’s top stars, including EXILE’s Akira and Takei Emi, and will continue to make special MC appearances.

“Japanese officials have been very impressed by Seungri’s hard working attitude. He’s also uploading diary entries every day on Big Bang’s mobile fan club, ‘Big Bang World,’ in Japanese, while studying the language very hard. His Japanese is now good enough to host his own TV show,” YG Entertainment said.

It added Seungri’s popularity is continuing to rise in Japan, although he’s only promoted in the country for a month, and Japanese shows are increasingly getting in touch with YGE to get him on TV.
