KOLLABORATION Honolulu Announces Official Lineup for First Annual Showcase

Soompiers in Hawaii! Mark our calendars for the first ever Kollaboration Honolulu! The showcase will take place at the Mamiya Theatre in St. St. Louis School on August 18, 2012, and will be hosted by “Twilight” movie series’ Justin Chon.

The lineup for Kollaboration Honolulu includes: Sheila Marie, singer/songwriter; Mantra, an alternative rock band, JamFam, acoustic/vocal; Jasmine Chun Fat, singer; Mike Izon, singer/songwriter; Jose Ver, comedian/singer, and Amanda Frazier, singer/band. The seven competitors will compete for the grand prize of $1,000, as wells as the opportunity to perform in Los Angeles and Tokyo. The winner will also compete nationally for a spot to be flown out and featured at the finale show in Los Angeles this November, where competitors will vie for the national crown.

Min Kim, the Executive Director of Kollaboration Honolulu, stated, “Kollaboration coming to Honolulu is extremely important because we are given an opportunity to showcase nationally, the wonderful talent that we have here locally. This show not only unites our community, but it also linkes us to resources across North America, which is an extremely valuable resource for everyone involved with the show.”

Sam Hwang, the Associate Director, added, “Kollaboration Honolulu is also very excited about our partnership this year with Operation Unite, a coast to coast effort with dance communities to raise money for cancer treatment and research facilities.”

Founded in 2000 with a single show in Los Angeles, Kollaboration is an arts and entertainment nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting positive and accurate perceptions of Asians and Pacific Islanders by providing a platform for artists to showcase their talents. Kollaboration has since grown and produces 15 shows across 13 cities in North America, including Atlanta, Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Toronto, and more.
