PSY Receives Offer from Justin Bieber’s Agency

PSY has received a contract offer from Justin Bieber’s agency!

Local media quoted a person familiar with the situation as saying, “We heard PSY received an offer from Scooter Braun, the person who’s in charge of Justin Bieber’s management, to release a single in the U.S. They are discussing the details for a possible contract.”

The source added that although “Gangnam Style” has been released on iTunes worldwide, Braun believes the song can still bring in additional success through a U.S. single release and promotional events. “PSY is a rare character with an Asian identity. And I think they put a lot of value on the success of ‘Gangnam Style’ MV and the popularity of his ‘horse dance.’”

In fact, Scooter Braun tweeted recently, “How did I not sign this guy!” after watching the “Gangnam Style” MV for the first time. It led to Braun getting in touch with YG Entertainment to ask for the selling rights to “Gangnam Style,” and just last week PSY flew to L.A. to hold a meeting for further partnership opportunities.

Many insiders believe the partnership will not just be a basic rights purchasing agreement. Although YG Entertainment declined to get in further details, PSY is now a major celebrity in the U.S. thanks in large part to the viral effect of his “Gangnam Style” music video.

Another source told Yonhap, “PSY could become a major hit with his addictive dance song, just like LMFAO and Los Del Rio (Macarena) did in the 90s. There are already a lot of South American and European artists in the U.S. but not many Asian musicians. PSY can also speak fluent English. This is a great opportunity for PSY to expand his network and advance into the U.S. pop market.”
