Rain Spotted Performing at a Military Event in Seoul

On September 15, Rain was spotted performing at Comrades Marathon event in Yeouido, Seoul. Korean Defense Media Agency of the Ministry of National Defense uploaded several pictures of Rain performing in Yeouido on its blog on September 20. 

The revealed picture shows Rain in black short-sleeve t-shirt with jeans and a beanie. At this event, Rain performed with fellow soldiers at the Defense Media Agency like Hip Hop duo Untouchable, actor Yoo Gun, and singer KCM. They did not participated in the marathon, but their performances greatly cheered for and encouraged the soldiers who participated in the event. One could easily spot several excited Japanese fans who flew in from Japan just to watch their favorite K-pop artist perform. 

Since he transferred to the Defense Media Agency, Rain has been continuously performing at numerous military-related events. He went to Vietnam right after his transfer to participate in a celebratory event of Korea-Vietnam’s 20th anniversary in diplomatic relations in March. He also performed at a children’s day event in May and was featured in the K-pop special performance of the Defense Media Agency in June at Yeosu Expo. 

Although Rain has been busy performing at different venues during his military service, he has not been to Seoul much. Even when he did come to Seoul for many military-related events, the nature of military-related events failed to draw attention from music and other entertainment fans. As a result, many fans welcomed Rain’s return to Seoul for comrades marathon on September 15 when the news broke out. 

Currently, Rain is serving in the military as a member of the Defense Media Agency. He is also hosting a radio show, “Rain-KCM’s Speed Instinct” on National Defense channel. Rain is scheduled to be discharged from the military in summer 2013.
